My request: Go to Ayam-ya Ramen if you get time. It's not too far from Big Sight and friggin' delicious.

I'm staying in Akihabara so that's pretty close (1.5mi), will do, I'll likely cross it on my random photo walks barring any serious re-injury (might have sliiiiightly stress fractured my foot from running too much a couple months ago).

So the last time I was in Japan was late 2011, I got the Lumix GX1 and the Panaleica 25mm f1.4. It was really fun only having a 50mm equiv prime hahahaha. This time around I'll be able to borrow a friend's Panaleica 15mm f1.7 for the more tighter city/indoor shots. If I were to get the used S1 (~USD840) I'd get the cheap Lumix 50mm f1.8 (USD280) and MAYBE the 20-60mm f3.5-5.6 kit lens (USD250), it's slow but with the inherent ~2 stop sensor advantage it'll all come out in a wash, right? Or I'll just rely on a phone for any wide-angle shots.

The G9 NEW in Japan is like ~USD570, used is ~USD435. I was chuffed with the performance of the old GX1 at the time so this still has to be at LEAST a one stop sensor upgrade in addition to resolution (16>20MP), not to mention actually having IBIS. I used the Topaz AI trial to clean up some of the old GX1 ISO 3200 shots and I'm just blown away by what noise reduction can do now (it felt like 99% of my shots were ISO 1600 or lower, Tokyo is bright hahaha).

URRGHHHH YE OL' HEAD-FI TEACHINGS ARE TELLING ME TO JUST GET BOTH, A USED G9 IS SO CHEAP IT MIGHT AS WELL BE A LENS CAP LOL(?) I think the G9 will be more than enough for my holiday family happy snaps, I'm not a content creator ahahaha. The S1 or other full frame cameras will only get cheaper, no rush I guess? It can wait until the next trip....unless I fall in love with the S1 trying it at the store....I just want the light up buttons...

Going to Japan in errr...3-4 days.

Will be at Comiket both days, if ya'll have any requests let me know. Please don't make me end up on an episode of Border Control, SFW or clearly "adult" NSFW OK, Australian Customs is very strict hahahaha.

Sigh... stay with m43 or go full frame, new/used Lumix G9 or a used S1....decisions decisions, I'll have to figure it out when I land.
If it's not too late, get an iPhone 15 Pro/Max and Tourist Refund Scheme it :relaxed:

I'm Looking forward to Ponoc Studios "The Imaginary" Also Starting Eureka Seven.
Got a D800 a few days ago myself, Just using a 17-35. We have a neat shop - "Fun Unlimited" here in Logan and should get some great pictures of media and the fun to-dos there. Japan is such a photo pipe dream. Got to do all sorts of things one day in Japan.

I'm pumped about the next episode of Hataraku Saibou. The last ep ended on a cliffhanger!
Took me 5 years to finish the series but I finally did it, I used this tab group system last season and it kinda works

Oh god not tabs! I'm guessing you've broken them out so its like your TV schedule? That seems like a good plan.

Was staying away from fullsize cans and only ever bothered with IEMs and speakers but my trip to the US two months ago changed that somehow. Wasn't even my first CanJam or headphone convention but yeah idk I blame the tap water. Or the silly chicken n waffle breakfast I had with @Muinarc and @miceblue that morning.

Anyway the Arya Organic was pretty much the last headphone I tried at the convention and it blew me away (despite my listening fatigue being at peak after two days of JamCan).
Loved everything about the way it sounds except for a lil much treble energy for the kind of music I listen to but I was willing to try to EQ that woe away so I ordered a pair alongside the Topping E70V+L70 stack.
Luckily I did manage to tame the treble to a just about the perfect level for me and just this one peak filter was all it took to ultimately turn these into my favorite headphones. Period.
Delicious Planar Bass(TM), lush mids and detailed airy treble with a soundstage that is not super deep but plenty wide and, I guess, tall. Handles even the fastest technical tracks I throw at it with ease.
The Topping stack sounds fantastic and is definitely a step up from the DX5 I used before. Loads of clean power coming from an amp that I will never ever volume adjust via the remote because the super clicky R2R control is so satisfying and if I really let the brainworms run free I can almost tell what Asahi Kasei Microdevices means when they are saying that their top of the line DAC chips have a "Velvet" sound. great stuff.

Addendum to not sound like a total shill: The Arya Organic stock cable sucks ass and is in every way inferior to the 60 bucks Tripowin cable I replaced it with ASAP. Build quality is (a bit) better than past Arya variants but still not what one should expect from a headphone this expensive.

It can really get the brainworms going but I haven't changed my settings in two weeks!
I think I'm clean.

I bought ~14kg of doujins (30 freedom units), Comiket is complete madness I’ve never seen so many people in my life. Queues to get in the morning were 2-3 hours long.

Managed to get iunno like 10 titles signed, half of them by girls lol, I think they made the effort to go themselves (plus a helper if that) versus some circles who employ others exclusively.

I had to pass on the super popular names so I could hit up the more obscure artists, well worth it imo it was hilarious when I asked for a signature and they were like “eh, you want one from ME?”

I’m so exhausted ahahah. Got about a week left on holiday, going to Osaka tomorrow.

Sounds like a successful haul! Have fun, hopefully the earthquake isn't messing with your schedule too much.....

Aussie border control only took like 7 titles (maybe 5 of which I already marked for destruction for being a bit too loli lol), quite surprised to be honest, I was expecting more. Yeah it was just like the TV show, an officer hauled boxes off to another room for a specialist to peruse ahahahah.

Oooooh boy gonna be fun sorting/cataloging on the weekend.
