Say guess, any of you know if there are any significant downsides to keeping the proximity sensor on a phone always on?

Kinda digging the ability to wave over my phone when it's asleep to wake it up, as it's faster than gripping it to press a button. That means that the proximity sensor has to always be on when the screen is off.

I used to have that feature enabled on the OnePlus 3, but then I found that it activates when I didn't want it to, so I disabled it. XD

I wish my phone has a magnetic sensor like my tablet, so the screen turns on whenever the cover is off and turns off when the cover is back on.

It's not about the double checking. They have plot armor. Each character that has died and come back was essentially dead......
 
Of couse. refinement happens and all that. I'm mostly just ranting at all the comments I read on other forums and Youtube about the MGS universe been a masterpiece.....no...its a cluster ****. 
 
It's plot points individually are nice. But then they had to sticky glue everyone of them together

Yeah, just curious if any of you are knowledgeable enough to know the specifics, like if it consumes a decent chunk or unnoticeable battery, if there are specific longevity issues with these sensors when you turn them on for many hours without frequent shutting downs, etc.

 
I'm pretty sure it's just an IR LED and a detector, not much to break or go wrong really.
 
Apart from completely falling apart or the screen shattering, the only thing to go wrong in a phone nowadays is the battery.

Still have a hard time using my S5 Neo. The smoothness on iOS, even iOS 9 is sooooo guuuud... But I love all the power and features on my new phone. If only SELinux was set to permissive. Then I can replace my old S3 as a dap because I can finally get V4A running on my new phone.

I wanna compile my own kernel but I'm a total noob a total anything related to computer science. Very nervous... ;~;

I'm not a gun man and refused most times I was offered to handle/shot them. Somehow, I wouldn't mind going to a gun range to get trained but it's provably something I wouldn't do on my own.
 

  Lol what, Spyderco is a massive name when talking about knives. It's one of those popular knife manufactures out there, probably see it more than Benchmade and Cold Steel combined. Personally... I just can't get the hang of their Spydy Hole deployment thing, just isn't my thing, but a lot of EDC community members swear by them, and for good reason. Their knives are generally solid and well thought out. The price is often a killer though.

I wrapped the handle using Paracord and liked it but ultimately decided I didn't need a knife and my expectations were too high. Similarly, I sold a Fenix PD35 for the same reasons but I ended up needing a light so I purchased the new version and some Orbtronic batteries plus a charger.

I thought a healthy dose of long distance truck drivers carried?
 
Yeah, I spent time on the range with an instructor twice. It was nice to get good real world advice besides just the gun training.

I haven't shot or been on a range since 6th form (18 years old, last year of school in the UK). I can appreciate guns, but don't really see the need for one here. There's a shooting range about 200m away from my house at the local community center as well so it's not as if it's difficult to find places to shoot if you want.
 
Guns I did get to play with, SA80 (in cadet, light support weapon and standard variants), L110A2 light machine gun and the No.8 Enfield .22 target rifle (the school competition shooter). Never got to shoot any pistolas.

What would cause a mechanical keyboard to double-press a key? My spacebar keeps double-spacing as evident by this post. I thought MX Cherry switches have a 3 million life span or whatever.


The superior tactile feeling of MX switches is failing me. I don't feel this double-spacing effect. lol

The superior tactile feeling of MX switches is failing me. I don't feel this double-spacing effect. lol

Either the leaf is activating twice when pushing the switch down (switches that may have come out of the factory near the edge or beyond tolerances) or it activates once on depression and once on the rising action.
 
Anyways there's no way to fix it without opening up the switch and unless you have very high dexterity, sanding or bending the spring by guessing isn't exactly the best method (that's if there's too much material; if there's too little you're out of luck unless you want to try your hand at bending the leaf/spring). I'd replace the switch if you have a soldering iron on hand.
 
If it's a PCB mount board you can just buy a spare switch and change out stems (or if you're using something like a Phantom plate).
