Frankly, I'm not sure. The Witcher sure is huge, but it was even before, at least for nerds - and they sure appreciate the devs. No idea about the common folks, but they most likely know it.

Cool on CDPR identiy in Poland. I kinda hoped they were a bit bigger in terms of pop culture identiy but oh well. For me, I just can't name many other things I identify with Poland past CDPR and Soviet technology. Seeing as how Witcher 2 was provided as a presidential present to Obama from Poland years back, I would expect it to be a national pride. I mean considering that it's the current world holder of the most number of GOTY awards ever.

  How is this series anyways? Seems fairly popular.

It's fairly good.
 
If the first two episodes don't get you to like it, then you know you won't. So fairly easy to tell if you'll enjoy it long term
 
I have not found a shounen I liked in over a decade but Academia is the first to be something I honestly enjoy.
 
It's not for people that are expecting more than it can give off the premise. But it pulls it off extremely well. Give the first two episodes a try. You'll know after you finish them if you will like it.

Don't care about sportsball games.
This one Star Wars game by the Dead Space devs might be cool (the two seconds of totally not ingame footage looked nice).
Battlefield 1 looks nice. Wonder how they will ruin it.

Please tell me if I am right on my hunch of what the series is about. I'm having a hard time fully finishing the series so I want to know if I got the memo right

I believe the series is about current humanity being infatuated with their devices and thus unable to seperate reality from what is "fake" and online. Lain embodies a medium through animation that allows us to "see" these results and also as a plot antic to try to also stimulate the perception or idea on if she is "real" or not or if she is just the embodiment of the "net". Furthermore, the psyche devices seems to speak of the oncomming revolution to furthermore integrate humans with the net making it even harder to differentitate.

Been catching up on movies lately. Just finally watched Perfect Blue. Satoshi Kon... What a f*ing loss. Definitely not as straightforward as it would have you think... I think. Will have to rewatch, too.

Why.......do......they.....put....a....FRICKING high pitch sound in the beginning of the song!?
 

 
It's pretty distracting to me. Almost like they are trying to replicate the 15.7KHz sound from old CRT tvs as a reference to Deku watching All Might on TV. 
 
My guess on it is that the producers or song writers wanted to add in the effect but seeing as they are older, didn't have it bother them as much

Nice to know I am not alone poi, but this one is rather fine as there are more sounds going on and the period is short.
 
Such high pitch noise is also one of the reasons I hate Keikkai Sensen which was even worse, 17khz noise for 10+ seconds or longer without other backgound sounds >.<

So...FRICKING....ANNOYING. The band is called Porno Graffiti and likes to scream. Good songs but I honestly think they or the production just can't seem to hear or be annoyed by the sound anymore which is why it made it in.The only reason it is still standable to listen is because one guy was kinda smart enough not to make it too loud.
 
 
 
 
I liked the serial nature of it without going too far. Really enjoyed it as a hook for people that wanted more serial stuff but then got them hooked on the rest of the series.

didn't like the anime for iM@S (CG) and LL (S2), not even gonna try watching this.

It was that half-broken Japanese that I loved. Would've been more convincing if they had gotten an actual non-native speaker (or a weeb) for that role.
