☯️ CAVALLI AUDIO ➜ The Liquid Carbon Upgrade Guide & Impressions Tour

My test headphones will be the LCD-X and ETHER so I will be adding my impressions as well

Sweet, I can not wait to hear your impressions on how the LCD-X sounds through the LAU. I have been so tempted to get the LCD-X, bet those Audeze cans sing like a muse, when driven by the LAU.

I'll have the LCD-3F's to play through the LAu, as well as the new Audeze SINEs (which are quite good for their price-point). Cheers

I will be using the following headphones: Beyerdynamic DT 880 600 ohm, Oppo PM-3, AKG K7XX, MrSpeaker's Alpha Primes, ETHER, ETHER C, HE1000 and thanks to a fellow Head-fier Sheldon, who has most generously loaned me his HD 800's to use. I can not wait to hear the HD 800 and how the LAU will make them sing. :)

I have a few headphones on hand for testing for folks.  Right now I have the Liquid Glass and Liquid Crimson (mine) as well as the Liquid Lightning 2T Solid State and the Carbon, obviously.

Here are the headphones I have handy for testing:
HD800 (unmodded)
Abyss
Ether
Ether C
LCD-3 (non fazor)
LCD-2.1 (might be 2.2?)
T1 (first gen)
HE-6
HD600
Meze 99
Q701
PM-3
HE-560

Oh and the SR-009 and SR-007mk2 for the LL.

So far the Glass has really impressed me.  I find that, sonically, it sits between the Crimson and the Gold.  The Crimson is layered and detailed but also adds a bit of weight and color.  It pairs wonderfully with something like the Ether C, which can sound a bit thin around the middle compared to some other cans.  The Gold is crisp and clean and transparent and unforgiving.  It likes the best cans and best source; feed it that and you will be rewarded.  The HD800 on the Gold is the best I'd ever heard it (until I heard the Tungsten).  The Glass has that clean transparency of the Gold with a hint of the tube sweetness of the Crimson... not enough to seem colored, but just enough to add a little something special.

I can see why some favor the Glass over the Gold and Crimson.  I'm looking forward to borrowing some tubes from Warren to see how it sounds with some different sets.

Also, can I just say WOW, the LCD-2.1 is a bassy, impressive beast!  My LCD-2f sounded nothing like that...

Well here's my setup.

Just need to let them warm up and then do some test runs and then tomorrow all the comparisons will start.

Looking forward to hearing your impressions on the Audeze SINE, especially being driven by the LAU.

I told Alex I think I like the Glass over the Gold and I don't think he was happy about that. He gave me a evil glare. They are both great but I liked the Glass better don't tell Alex i think it pissed him off. I'll get another chance in Nashville to hear the Gold.

Well, not exactly the EVIL EYE, maybe just a curious one (except that I'm so old curious may look like evil now).

The Liquid Glass is phenomenal but I am afraid the LAU will be so superb sounding that it will lure me further down the audophile rabbit hole. And if I go any deeper I will loose sight of the light ( my sanity) lol.;)

@Stillhart I would love your thoughts on Liquid Crimson paired with HE-6 as that sounds like my future setup.  I've been using the HE-6 with the Carbon with surprisingly good result but am curious what the Crimson brings to the table compared to the Carbon with the HE-6.

LOL!  What headphones were you using with the two amps?  As I said, I think the Gold can be unforgiving at times so some headphones do better with it than others.

Looking forward to hearing your impressions. I have been tempted to get a pair of HE-6. A store I know has a open box pair on sale for 775 dollars.

Will the second run of the LC be the same as the first one? Any changes to the device?

They appear to have taken a vow of secrecy on that question.  I have asked a couple of times myself, to no avail.
