Best Smartphone for audiophile

Well then, a smart phone is perfect for me. I'm not into disecting every note or sound I hear. I want to hear the music as a whole. And as for discerning every drum beat, or string plucked, that's not what I'm about. So IMO, there is room for "audiophile" smartphones in the market. And having less to carry is a bonus in my mind.
I guess that then leads to a bigger question, one that actually goes beyond this forum... What is an audiophile...

I must admit, to back up what you're saying, as much as I have a dedicated portable rig (Fiio X5 & Chord Hugo), most of the time I'm happy to just 'slum it', with whatever smartphone I have with me, alongside my Shures...

Don't get me wrong with my comment. By no means do I consider myself an audiophile. I just think that technology moves so fast, and improvements in DAC chips, and SoC, that quality sound can be had with a smartphone. I've had a FiiO X3, and while nice, I prefer my Galaxy S5 and PowerAmp. I find the power adequate for my IEM'S, and the improved flexibility of the EQ in the app, to tune to my liking, to be something the X3 was missing. I'm happy where I am, but I'm just as happy browsing the "Portable Rig" thread to see how others find their happiness.

ZMan2k2 I'm agreeing with you

Yes, it is great to run around with the Hugo (have been since June last year), however - sometimes it is just as rewarding (when on a noisy train, or running down the road) to just have a TOTL smartphone....

Tablets seem to be a potential half way house that would please both sides of the argument, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S that I have has a really nice headphone out... :)

Oh, I know you were agreeing with me.  I just wanted to clarify what I meant in my first post.

I agree, it's nice to grab my portable IEM's, the phone, and head out to somewhere, like the mall, and that's all I'm carrying.  In as much, I don't miss a call, text, email, etc..  And I enjoy the sound.  And in the end of all the comparo's, testimonies, tests, new found gear threads and so on, that's what it's all about.  To find you're happiness.  I'm just glad I found mine on the cheaper end of the scale..... some of those rigs are downright costly!

Another PRC Phone just hit UK ... but well, least we will get it over in States side "soon"

the Kirin 930/935 chippery sports a HiSilicon Hi6402 audio DSP with a smart amplifier, and a single box audio chamber speaker system. Voice wakeup is also enabled by the audio SoC.

suprising thing is that many PRC OEM is going down the "audiophile phone" route .... while

just curious, does LG G3 / G4, Moto, Samsung S6, Edge 6 contains / has build in "Amp" / DAC  / Audiophile Audio Chip, etc ???

The P8 in rosw's post above couldn't look more like an apple product even if it spilled apple seeds out of the earpiece when you had it to your ear...

Odds on Apple putting out a lawsuit?

Can anyone compare the htc M8 with the htc M9? I currently have the M7 and am going to either upgrade to the htc M9 or the Sony Z3 in a few weeks. I want to get the phone with the best audio quality released at this time.

Anyone want to provide their experience? I am also interested in an audio quality comparison between the M9 and the Sony Z3. Thanks-

haha :)

Funnily enough, although the shots are not much of a giveaway, depending on how thin the bezel is, the LE1 Pro looks to have taken it to Apple, and served up a dish best served cold!

LeTV sure doesn't mess around though when it comes to sound quality. This device probably has the best sound on the market now if you see the tech involved. Powered by AKG, that is. Make sure to translate

' I concluded all those above from my own experiences of several high end smartphones....vs high end DAP. More specifically, IPhone 5s, 6, Z3, Note 4 Exynos vs NW-ZX2.'

The trouble is that your point of reference is wrong. I've tried all the phones/daps you mention and agree those phones are not in the same league as the NW-ZX2 but have you tried the Oppo N3 because IT IS. (using flac).

when compared to HTC One M9,  Meizu MX4 Pro, Xiao Mi Note Pro, Vivo, Huawei P8 ?
