Pros: Best sounding IEM I've had yet, Good Microphone, Good Fit, Braided cable feels durable, Angled jack is great
Cons: Left driver ended up going out after a couple years...
I had only tried IEM's bought at local stores until I got these, and they were a huge upgrade. In fact, I would argue these are the best set you could have bought at the time for the price. They sounded great with Music, Video, and listening to Vocals. If I remember correctly, they did distort at very high volume. These were my everyday IEM's until they broke :frowning2:

Since the day they died, I have been frantically trying to locate another pair, but they seem to have vanished everywhere. I attempted to repair them myself by separating the enclosure and desoldering and re-soldering the connection to the driver, but it did not work. I also purchased the new, cheaper, version of the Sonix (Sonix 3S), but they were lacking the dynamic impact of the 3's.

After that, I sought out to find an adequate replacement. I amy or may not do a review on all the models I tested, but I can say that the journey is still ongoing. I fear now that it has been so long since I heard the sound of the Sonix 3's, that I might not be able to remember exactly how they were when testing other brands/models.

Here is a small list of what I have tried, but all ultimately failed:

Klipsch S4i - Treble was too harsh, not enough depth/dynamic impact
JVC Xtreme Explosives - Ummm, these sounded awful... Everything sounded compressed and high frequencies were very harsh/metallic... Bass was lacking despite the name...
V-Moda Remix - Sounded artificial and not warm, treble was a little harsh, and midrange was cold/metallic...
House of Marley - Smile Jamaica - Okay, these were not too bad... I wish I had kept them a little longer to test, but they were getting close to the sound of the Sonix 3's...
House of Marley - Midnight Ravers - These had okay Bass and Treble, but the Midrange was off. It was too open and sounded artificial compared to the other frequency ranges...
House of Marley - People Get Ready - These had very prominent Bass... more so than the Sonix 3's, but the Mids and Highs were too recessed, so at high volume, Bass overpowered and distorted...
Monster Turbine Gold - These sounded pretty good, but I did expect a little more the the price...
Monster Turbine Copper - I really enjoyed these, and I wish I would have kept them to test further, but at over $300 at the time, I could not justify spending that much considering the Sonix 3's were $50...
Velodyne vPulse - I had high hopes for these, but the EQ is not right. I can make them sound like the Sonix 3's using the VLC "Soft Rock" preset and increasing the Preamp Gain +10, but I am looking for something with this sound straight from the manufacturer.I do think these have better bass response than anything else I have tried, so it's a real shame...
Sennheiser MM30i - These are my current every day pair, but they are a little harsh on Treble and are a little lacking in the Sub Bass area. Midrange is warm, but can distort at high volume...

I have been hearing mixed reviews about several other pairs I have not heard yet, so if anyone can give me a recommendation, it would be greatly appreciated.

- At this point, I guess I would be looking for a set that sounds like the vPulse with the EQ mod I have set -

Here are some models I have heard good things about:
Sennheiser iE8i
RHA T10i
Dunu Titan 1

I will be wanting a set that includes a Microphone/Controls, and if there happens to have a model that can be programmed with software for desired EQ, that would be fantastic! I don't think this exists yet though...

If I had to set a price max, I would say I was looking for anything under $300...
