Noble Audio XM1

General Information

noble4_1024x1024.png

To power the XM-1 and the integrated amplifier, we went with an active USB-C high-quality cable with a 4-pin connector. Intended use is for smartphones with USB-C ports lightning ports, or other smart devices that allow for USB-C listening. Note that DAPs that have USB-C ports may require changes to settings in order to allow volume to be controlled through the USB-C port. Also, note that the XM-1 is NOT compatible with the Astell & Kern DAPs due to AK's use of an abbreviated Android OS.

The XM-1 features the xMEMS Cowell tweeter paired with an 8.3mm Dynamic driver for the low end. The resulting sound is astoundingly clear mids and highs as is expected with the xMEMS Cowell, coupled with full bass extension, which has previously been lacking in xMEMS products.

The Noble XM-1 is designed to be robust to keep up with users who are listening on their mobile devices. The aluminum shell with stainless steel nozzle and wax guard helps to make sure that the IEMs are able to keep up with busy daily use.

Hi @clerkpalmer What are you thoughts on the XM1s now? Are they still good for you after the first 30 minutes?
Hey, I am really enjoying these. I gave up on wired IEMs years ago but this easy uSBC solution got my attention and I wanted to see what the xmems are about. I do find it weird that Noble hasn’t put these on their website and there are no/few reviews. The other thing is there isn’t an EQ solution that I’m aware of for these. I tried to EQ them in USB Audio and it didn’t really do much.

They have really solid bass slam (although not as impactful as the Prestige) coupled with some really amazingly clear mids and highs. They can get a little hot in the treble with certain tracks but I think that’s part of the draw. They have a nice wide soundstage compared to my TWS and I’ve been preferring them to my H95. Maybe about $100 too expensive for what they offer but I’ll give Noble credit for once again offering innovative solutions.

Build quality is really solid. The cable is very nice and appears durable and the shells feel and look great. The fit is a big improvement over the Prestige.

Yeah, I concur with the review above, I'm not much of a audiophile, but I do have a BQEYZ Wind + Cayin RU7 DAC, and the XM1 just gives it that extra touch of clarity throughout without missing on the bass depth and feel of the Wind (DD + BC driver).
It digs a bit deeper in the ear canal though, so not quite as comfortable as the Wind or a TWS as Bose QC Ultra (current King of in-ear comfort). But that mid and high clarity is really addictive, gives an enormous soundstage and music depth. As mentioned above, could be a bit cheaper, even with it high quality construction. Wonder if we'll ever get replaceable cables and DAC.

Glad I'm not the only one who purchased these. Still seems strange that Noble isn't really commenting on these for some reason. They are pretty active in the threads.

Yeah found that strange too, not picked up in any of the hifi iem review sites either, yet. Been testing randomly for about a week now, love the clarity. But looking for better tips than the stock ones.

@Noble anything to comment on these ? It’s almost like they don’t exist (except for $600 missing from my bank account).

So finally tested them with the Divinus Velvet ear tips, fit perfectly, now I can listen hours without hardly feeling it in my ear. Tested it against the HiFiman Ananda Nano powered by the Cayin RU7 (yeah, not a just comparison), but the sound was so close, and filling. Of course the XM1s don't have the same amount of layering and airiness, but it's overall more cohesive, with punchier lows and less of the sibilant highs. A true hifi station on the move.
One thing I did note though, without any music there seems to be some sound bleed into the right earbud. And if I attach a wireless charger to the cell with the XM1, strange noises get channeled (without any music playing). Not a common scenario but same doesn't happen if I have DAC attached with other earbuds.
But overall quite satisfied with the low profile XM1s serving its purpose as a HQ mobile audiophile setup, on walks or working (with a decent amount of passive noise suppression).

I also get a lot of hiss on mine but it seems to go away when the source starts.

iPhone and Pixel Fold.
Interestingly over the last few weeks of testing on my Samsung Flip 5, the hiss has disappeared. Now basking in pure music. But I still dont see any official anouncements of XM1 on the Noble site, hope its not entangled in IP wars with other competitors of xmems.

Doesn’t seem like Noble wants to associate itself with them. Bizarre.

Is there some type of DAC inside of each IEM? What is the purpose for extra two wires - just juce for amplification?

They put high bias(required for the xmems) amplifiers in each earbud, so yes juice for the amps. The dac is in the usb plug, I believe.
