Buy new HD650 drivers or get a different headphone?
I have a pair of old HD600s that sounded weirdly hollow - vocals sounded recessed and far away. I dismantled it, messed around with the drivers and broke something. A pair of HD650 drivers plus shipping would cost me $120. I have no guarantees that new drivers would fix the problem, but...- tight_budget

Recommend me a open headphone like HD600 but not needing amp
I'm looking to replace my aging HD600s. I could purchase replacement drivers, but thought I might get a different pair of headphones that don't need amplification instead. Budget - about the same price range as HD600, comfort is very important. I have the Audio-Technica ESW-9 which I love...- tight_budget

TOPPING NX1 Portable Headphone Amplifier Impressions Thread
Hi, I bought the Topping NX1 headphone amplifier, it is my first portable headamp. I tested it with the Sennheiser HD600 and it sounded terrible. When first powered on, everything sounded compressed, there was no separation and sound stage. It also sounded slightly muffled. At first I...- tight_budget

Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread
Hi, I have a pair of 10 yr old HD-600 that I hadn’t used for a couple of years when the sound gave out on the left side. Recently I opened up the grill and cups to check, didn’t see anything wrong and put them back. Voila, the sound came back. However, the cans now sound very constrained...- tight_budget

TDK BA-200 going for cheap at a local shop ($70), should I get multiple sets?
I bought a pair last week and I'm loving it. Not sure how durable the BA-200 is, can previous owners share? Should I buy another pair since this seems to be heck of a deal?- tight_budget

Using 2 headphones simultaneously
Hi guys, I live in a small apartment, and I need a solution to enable me to watch TV or movies at night with my wife without disturbing the sleeping children. Should I just get a splitter that lets me plug in two ¼ in headphone jacks? Or is there a dedicated box I can buy with two...- tight_budget

Over-ear headphones for running
I'm currently using IEMs when I run, but the seal isn't great and I have to keep adjusting them to get decent bass. I'm thinking maybe over-ear headphones would be better? Any recommendations, with remote for apple devices? By the way, I'm using MEElectronic M6P currently.- tight_budget

iPhone 5 (and new Touch) has totally new dock connector - 'Lightning' - adapters available but no line-out
I agree with you that the classic LOD connection works best. However, I currently use my ipod touch for a lot of stuff other than music. I don't own an iphone, and I use apps heavily on the touch. To downgrade to a classic just for music is going to be tough and carrying two devices around is...- tight_budget

Will you upgrade your iPod Touch 4G to 5G?
I just bought an LOD cable and an amp a month ago, so definitely not. My current ipod touch battery life isn't great, so I may get a classic instead just for music.- tight_budget

Any portable OPEN headphones similar to ESW9?
Hi, I'm looking for a set of headphones small enough to be put in a carrying case, but I won't be using them as portables. I want Open headphones to be used indoors, but I will need to carry them around in a bag. I am sorely tempted to get the ESW9, but it is a closed headphone. I...- tight_budget

Are there any Circumaural (cover ears) headphones that are foldable?
Hi all, I'm looking for a set of headphones that I can fold up, put in a carrying case and bring with me on business trips. Supra-aurals and IEMs will not be as comfortable for extended listening sessions, so circumaural would be best. However I don't know any that can be stored easily in...- tight_budget

Audio-Technica ATH-A900x vs Grado SR225i vs Senn HD600
Hi all, I own the A900x and the Senns. The A900x has clearer treble, but weaker bass than the HD600. It sounds quite lively on rock songs, but I miss the bass. Senns are notoriously laidback and I don't need to say too much about them. How do these two phones compare with the Grado...- tight_budget

Do you guys buy headphones with different sound signatures or keep to what you like?
What portable headphone would you recommend that has the opposite sound from the Senn HD600? A grado? I'm worried about the clamping force of the grados.- tight_budget

Do you guys buy headphones with different sound signatures or keep to what you like?
I generally prefer tube-like and laid back sounding phones, I have the HD600 and TDK BA200 IEMs which fit the bill. I'm also looking to buy a set of portable headphones which would be an upgrade over the TDKs. At first I was aiming for the AudioTechnica ESW9 which fits my preferences, but then...- tight_budget

Online headphone retailers with international shipping
Hi all, I live in Singapore, and would like to buy a headphone from the US. Amazon doesn't ship to my country, so I'm looking for other retailers. So far I've looked at Beach Camera and Adorama. Please recommend a portable headphone for me
Thanks for the suggestion. Although I may be using them on the plane/trains, I will prefer something that can be folded up and put in a case. Please recommend a portable headphone for me
Hi all, I'm looking for a set of headphones that can be folded into a case for easy transportation. My musical tastes leans towards a lush, smooth and warm sound. I like bass, but am not a bass head. Question about CMOYBB tuning
Hi, I'm considering getting a CMOYBB from JDS Labs, for my HD600s. On the other hand, I would like to use it for my IEMs too when I don't want to bring out the HD600. It would probably be 50/50 usage. Does the tuning or customization of the cmoy make much difference? Should I ask...- tight_budget

TDK BA200 Comply foam tips
Hi guys, I just bought the TDK BA200 and prefer the comply tips to the bi-flange. They are just more comfortable and give a lusher sound. Problem is, I don't know what size fits me. I prefer the spherical shaped ones (TS-100), and this web review stated that the BA200 comes with a large...- tight_budget

TDK BA200 Thread
They sound good, but I'm not happy with the tips. The included bi-flanges have good clarity but almost no bass. The complys have nice bass and a warm sound but are not as clear as the bi-flanges. Could I have the best of both worlds by using the bi-flanges and a bass boosting portable amp?- tight_budget
