played with my ipod classic and encountered no such problem. best advice: better return your item back to Apple as you may have a defective unit.

d2 = finicky. you gotta find that headphone that would totally mate with them together. Thats the only thing I dont like about the d2. unlike for the iPod where you can pair them with anything. Been hearing a lot around here about the iaudio x5. how does it sound?

I have a creative zen vision, the model prior to the creative zen vision: w, and it uses a 1.8" hd. Now i cant find a new one and was just wondering since that the iPod also uses a 1.8" HD, would they be compatible? swap the defective old creative zen HD to the working ipod 1.8 hd?

well since you have most of the best sounding DAP's, how would you rank your gadgets in terms of just sound quality unamped? ipod touch 2g, d2, sony etc. Im guessing its more of a A829> D2/Sansa Fuze> iPod touch 2g
