The Deals DISCUSSION Thread (READ THE FIRST POST!!!)
Any thoughts about the UE350 for about $16.99 + shipping from Groupon? Would the mic work with an IPhone? Are they any good for non-audiophile use? ...- jonandabby

Don't see this anywhere in a search of the forums, so I'm both posting the deal and asking for thoughts on whether it is a decent set for use on a train. WWStereo.com offers a pair of Sennheiser CX 280 Stereo Earphones (Black) for $16.50 when you apply promotional code SD280X at checkout...- jonandabby

I'll add another link as a possibility. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004PEIGPS/ref=oh_details_o05_s00_i00?t=slickdeals&tag=slickdeals&ascsubtag=yvqLDK3FEeK-E6b68wo-pA0_2qHX3_0_0_0&ie=UTF8&psc=1 $6 seems to be too cheap to be reasonably good, but they originally sell for $20, so...- jonandabby

Quote: Quote: I always manage to break earbuds on my commute (they last a few months) so am constantly looking for good cheap sets. Expensive ones breaking pi$$ me off, and in any event 50% of my time using them is on a train, and the finer points of really good sound is lost...- jonandabby

Sound Isolating Earphones for $50 or so
I'm trying to stay away from IEM's, actually (using the definitions here). I've tried a couple for comfort, not sound, and find it distracting to walk around with them shoved in my ear. I like the earbud style better, knowing that the isolation won't be as good. The S4 was almost good enough...- jonandabby

Sound Isolating Earphones for $50 or so
I do most of my listening on an Ipod on a commuter train or subway. I typically listen to podcasts and music that won't particularly stretch a decent set of earphones (e.g. rock but not the crazy thumping bass hairband kind). For a few years, I used Senn CX300's, but they kept breaking. I...- jonandabby

I'm in the US. The DUNU Trident doesn't seem to be available readily here, the write-up on the E10 suggests it is more bassy than I need (I listen on a train to podcasts and rock (mostly) so bass isn't as much of a concern as the mid-range), the GR02 is 50% more than the discounted CX495 price...- jonandabby

Does anyone know about the Sennheiser CX495? It is on sale through today at newegg for $29.95 after the promo code. I used CX300's for a while, and then moved to Klipsch s4's (which I just broke). http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826106554- jonandabby

Commuter IEM recommendation (under $100)
I recently lost my CX-400 (Mk1) earphones on the train, so I'm looking to start over.... I use my Ipod mostly on the train. It is used about 50% of the time for movies on a laptop, and the rest is split between music and podcasts. I'm not willing to spend more than 100, mostly because I keep...- jonandabby

cx300 v. MDR-EX81 v. RP-HJE70
NO ONE has any ideas? Assume I'm dropping the Sony and replacing it with the Panasonic. In reading this and other forums, it looks like the order is: 1) Panasonic RP-HJE70 2) Sennheiser cx300 3) Super.fi 3 4) Panasonic RP-HJE50 Is this about right?- jonandabby

cx300 v. MDR-EX81 v. RP-HJE70
I have an Ipod Video and am going to buy new earphones. Here are my 3 finalists for the following reasons: 1) I don't want to spend $100+ on a set of earbuds - I am going to be taking these on a train every day, and if I break them I don't want to be too aggravated. And with the train...- jonandabby

Grado vs. Sennheiser: Agree with these comments
I love my 595's. I've worn them for 2 1/2 hours at a stretch, and they stayed comfortable and didn't get too worn. And the sound is spectacular, for music AND movies (a key for me).- jonandabby

"Reasonable" extension cable
Should I look to find a total replacement cable that is 20' long, or a good extension to put on the end of the stock cable that the headphones came with? -
"Reasonable" extension cable
I just bought Sennheiser 595's. Love 'em. Need 20 feet of cable. What should I buy that isn't ridiculously expensive that will give me the extra 10 feet.- jonandabby

Sennheiser (or other) multimedia question
I liked the 590's, but not enough to rush out and buy them (smile). I was looking before the 595's came out, so part of my hope in this thread is to get some focused feedback on the 590 v. 595 for DVD and game usage. I've seen the 590 v. 595 threads for music, but haven't seen much on them for...- jonandabby

Sennheiser (or other) multimedia question
The background - My wife keeps yelling at me to KEEP THE VOLUME DOWN, and I guess I'm hard of hearing or something. (Maybe it is the 20 year old Advent Speakers I LOVE that just have a hard time staying quiet enough for her ....) So I've decided that for a belated X-mas present I want...- jonandabby

Sennheiser DSP-Pro
I have an opportunity to buy a set consisting of a slighly used HD580 and a Sennheiser DSP-Pro. Most of my use for the headphones will be to play my XBox and watch movies. I have a new Onkyo 601 receiver, so I'm not certain that the headphone amp buit in will be sufficient to drive the...- jonandabby

HD280 v. HD497
I realize that this is probably a pretty dumb question. I am closer to being set on a choice b/n the HD280 and HD497 for my system. I don't need portable. Any thoughts between these two? As I'm not able to find either in a brick or mortar store, I'm probably going to buy whichever on-line, and...- jonandabby
