DITA - The Answer (Truth Edition).

I'm always open to try but with a desktop system and re-evaluate my opinion; out of curiosity. I suspect that my HD800 will have more potential to end game sound as the Truth is priced not far away. Moving to a desktop system opens another can of worms - from AC related tweaks and isolation to...

Zero Audio - ZH-DX200 Carbo Tenore | ZH-DX210 Carbo Basso (Carbon & Aluminium IEM) thread

I 1st auditioned both versions at the recent Hifi show held in the hotel at Kitchener rd. a colleague of mine bought the Answer (and many other phones plus the AK240), so I have access to it.

DITA - The Answer (Truth Edition).

Fact is different people have different preference.   I've heard both versions on the AK240 with good recordings and yes they sound very different and the Truth has more detail. However IMHO, that does not necessary make it more enjoyable and "better". I can easily change all the cables in my...

Zero Audio - ZH-DX200 Carbo Tenore | ZH-DX210 Carbo Basso (Carbon & Aluminium IEM) thread

My friend bought it for me in Tokyo. I think they sell this in Song Brother at Sim Lim in Sg.   I just tried it against the Dita Answer. Ist thing the Dita strike me as more detail esp in terms of dynamics from acoustic instruments; sounds more organic. Heavy piano key strikes etc has more...

Zero Audio - ZH-DX200 Carbo Tenore | ZH-DX210 Carbo Basso (Carbon & Aluminium IEM) thread

Bought the Tenor and ran in for about 80 hrs. Just took a subway ride in them playing Buena Vista Social Club. Totally immersive and engaging; almost miss my stop, rip it off while playing air guitar and missed a step. Tonal balance is natural, dynamics and details are good too. Really hard to...

DITA - The Answer (Truth Edition).

Interesting that you mentioned about microphonics as the 1st impression when I switched from Doppio to Answer is this sudden feeling of silence; not that I noticed any background noise on the Doppio before.

DITA - The Answer (Truth Edition).

I only had a brief comparison between both at a hifi show and the Truth was way too bright for my taste. They had probably not been properly burnt-in but I doubt that would have reversed my impression of them. My short description of the Answer is on a model with over 500 hours of playtime.

DITA - The Answer (Truth Edition).

Tried out the Answer and Truth at a show but were not overly impressed, but leaning in favour of the Answer. Tried the Answer again with a AK240 yesterday and is really impressed with the refinement and composure on complex materials. Really reminds me of Harbeth speakers - loads of harmonic...

Zero Audio - ZH-DX200 Carbo Tenore | ZH-DX210 Carbo Basso (Carbon & Aluminium IEM) thread

Good choice on the tenore. Just compared both tenore and basso through an AK240 on a few different high def tracks yesterday. The basso is definitely a tenore with enhanced bass - it's missing too much details to be engaging.

    Litz VS Stranded

Here are some info on different types of litz. http://www.newenglandwire.com/en/products/litz-and-formed-cables/types-and-constructions.aspx   I used to to get them from a shop near escalator at Adephi (3rd or 4th floor) years ago. Perhaps you can google for the local dealer.

Litz cable reduces the impact of skin and proximity effect. Go audition the range from Audionote.

Least painful downgrade from Sennheiser HD-800

I have a pair of hd800 and I thought the ath-a2000 sounds along the tonal balance as the hd800; airy and spacious sound.

    HD800 "Anaxilus" Mod

X2....plus some care in matching to a good digital source and tube amp helps too. Anyway, it is a very transparent hp at the end of the audio chain, so garbage in, garbage out.

    Advice on Sennheiser HD800s

I'm running my 800 with MS2+ using the WA6.     The combo is quite fine but upgrading both the 800's cable and the USB cable to the MS2+ made quite obvious improvement in terms of image definition and tonal balance (more body and weightier bass)

monoprice v augioquest and other "audiophile usb cables

Quote: Good suggestion, but I started with trying as many generic IT usb cables as I can as I was quite skeptical. I heard subtle differences between some of them before I went further to buy a dedicated cable.    I have the Furutech Formula 2 and the improvement is obvious enough that...

    The HeadAmp GS-X and GS-X MK2 Thread

Hi Justin, just a little unsolicited advice. The white nomenclature on black anodize front panel can be too stark; try a light gray (Pantone Cool Gray 1 or even higher) instead of white.

    Seeking advice from experts

I own a HD800 and it can sound really sterile with some solid state amps. I suggest you audition the combo carefully; at least more than a quick listen. Even with a good class A SS amp like Headamp's GS-1, it can sound a tad "thin".   I suggest auditioning them with a good tube amp before...

    Group test winners ...

They used to come only with din input/output, and even the speaker cable choice is restricted to naca5. Only non-Naim components commonly used then was Epos es14 speakers which was voiced for Naim and Chord cables. Good thing is I don't waste as much time mucking around with hardware...

Unless you listen mainly to heavy rock music, try the focal xs book. Compact, low cost and tonally balanced.
