That seems to be the case. What about the Sennheiser HD280's? They seem to get high marks.

Cool, I had no idea that Grado made phones in that price range! I've got kind of a big head how are they for comfort? Also, I read that the SR-80's have larger ear cushions would that make them more comfortable? Thanks for the info.

You'll be very happy with any of those three. Especially if you're just getting into this hobby great all purpose IMO.

The DT 770's do have a lot of bass, but I don't find them overpowering. And they fit my big head very comfortably. When I put other cans on I can't wear them for very long because it feels like my brain is being squeezed out.

I love my Beyerdynamic DT 770's. They have great bass and are very comfortable on my big head.
