New too
I'd like to stay under $500 for a source. Not a high end, obviously, but I'd like to step up from what I have. I'd like some good cans, probably also in the $500 range, maybe more. Probably a headphone amp. So not a big budget, but I retired a few years ago and it's what I can do, for now...- DLRStudio

REVIEW: HiFiman HM-601
I received the 601 in the mail today, having received the GR8s Friday. Wow. Seriously awesome sound. Blows my Sony out of the water. I'm so glad I read this review last week, and decided to order this player. I originally was going to also order the RE-262 IEMs, but they're nowhere to be found...- DLRStudio

HM-601 or J3
I was considering the same two devices. After reading everything I could find here about each, I decided on the 601. It should be here any day, as should the GR10 I ordered last night. I wanted to order the RE-262, but they're nowhere to be found. I was watching the Sale/Trade Forum, but they...- DLRStudio

Cowon S9 vs. J3
I'm deciding between the 32G J3 and S9. Is there a noticeable difference is SQ? Any other important differences? I've heard some say they were disappointed in the SQ of the S9 compared to other Cowon models. The touch screen/video capabilities aren't a big deal to me. Thanks, D ...- DLRStudio

Frustrated with Clip+
Okay, I'll try to clarify after stepping away for a few minutes. I know FLAC is a better file, being lossless. Of course it makes sense that converting from mp3 to FLAC results in lesser quality. I didn't think about that when I was doing it. When I rip a CD to MM, it asks what format I want to...- DLRStudio

Frustrated with Clip+
I thought FLAC was better than MP3, and in MM there's the option to convert to FLAC. When I load my CDs into MM, what format is it? I couldn't send some of my music to the Walkman after importing it from iTunes. When I converted it to MP3, I was able to send it to the Walkman. Does this make...- DLRStudio

Frustrated with Clip+
I converted a bunch of music from mp3 (for walkman) to FLAC this morning. When I tried to put on my Clip, only about half of it would write to it. I've tried disconnecting the Clip from my computer and reconnecting it, checked to make sure the card wasn't full (still has over 6Gig free)...- DLRStudio

Need help with S545 and Media Monkey
I reripped a bunch of CDs, and they loaded fine. Today my only problem seems to be that MM is crashing a lot. Previously it was running fine. Weird stuff.- DLRStudio

Need help with S545 and Media Monkey
Later this afternoon, I tried transferring using Drag and Drop, rather than Send To Walkman. Results were no better. Tomorrow I'll delete the ones that give me the Cannot Play...message and RIP them again. I may have originally done them in a format that the S545 doesn't read. Still hoping...- DLRStudio

Need help with S545 and Media Monkey
I'm using Media Monkey to transfer music to my S545. Yesterday I attempted to transfer about 20 albums, but only 9 of them showed up on my device. I formatted the H545, then transferred music again. This time I attempted to transfer 24 albums, only 10 of them showed up. I checked all the...- DLRStudio

Switch from iPod Touch to Sony S545
And of course, tonight I was looking at the IEM reviews, and realize I should have gotten some RE0s while I was spending a little money. Maybe by summer I'll be able to get into some higher quality gear. For now, at least I'm listening to music that I love Denise- DLRStudio

Switch from iPod Touch to Sony S545
Justanut, I'd like to hear what you think of the S9 with HO rather than LOD. I want to buy an amp too, but will have to save. Each component is a major purchase for me right now. GuruTech - it's dudette And I'm much happier, thank you. I think I've already found buyers for the Touch and Bose...- DLRStudio

Switch from iPod Touch to Sony S545
I haven't been here in a long time, probably over a year. I remember from last time I was reading the threads regularly that many people think that other sources have much better sq than iPods. I was happy with mine so I never checked anything else out. I do have a lot of apps on it, and use it...- DLRStudio

Women.
Just give her $1k, and let her select her own ~ unless you're talking about a child-type girl. I wouldn't spend that much on headphones for a small child. But if my husband wants to buy me headphones, he knows he's better off letting me pick them out. And they won't be cheap, or come from any...- DLRStudio

e3c phones weirding out
My headphones are about a year old, and they're conking out on me today. They've been dropping in and out, hissing a lot. Sounds like a cable problem. I've checked the connection several times. I listen to them 6-8 hours a day (disability accomodation for work), so they've seen a lot of...- DLRStudio

What do you think of Vista?
I have home premium 32 on my desktop, ultimate 64 on my laptop. Very happy with Vista. No crashes, only a couple of compatibility issues in the beginning which were fairly quickly resolved (got the desktop shortly after Vista was released), none since very early on. I'm happy with the new...- DLRStudio

High Quality IEMs for work?
Thanks for the suggestions. I'm always open for more. I'm looking at the UM2. I do like the neutral sound, rather than bass heavy. I like the highs to be clear and separated. I think these may fit the bill. I've heard good things about Stax, but I don't think I've read any comments about...- DLRStudio

High Quality IEMs for work?
I need to buy some good IEMs for work, where I listen to my 5.5G iPod about 6 hours daily. Full-sized cans aren't really an option because headphones aren't normally allowed in my office (I use them as a disability accomodation) so I like to be somewhat discreet. It's common knowledge that I...- DLRStudio

iMod or Cowon Q5W?
I have a 30g 5.5 iPod. I'm trying to decide whether to send it out to be transformed into an imod, or to go with the Cowon Q5W. Does anyone mod their Q5W? Is the sq of the imod better than the cowon? I'm also trying to decide which headphones to go with. I'm currently using Shures (I think...- DLRStudio
