After much playing around, I finally found the issue.  When putting headphone in and out of the jack of 105 while CD is still being played, the player actually delays a bit.  SA8001 does not delay at all.   Not sure if this is a serious design issue since probably no one listens to CD with...

If I remember correctly, Bose had very good speakers thirty years ago. Their apporach to audio equipements nowaday is different. I suppose the sound system for movie/TV veiwing is still good, when your main goal is not music. But you could be paying a lot.

One way to look at this: If you watch CSI-Miami, you notice the coloration added for effect. That can be said of the sound quality of Bose. A lot of people here do not like that.
