They actually explicitly state on their website that they are using the drivers from the TH900 series in the TH808 and they also both use the 1.5 Tesla driver. I have also heard both so I can confirm it really is just a retuned driver in a cheaper package.

Perhaps the K2HD upscales when it detects the right format, in the manual it kind of states the conditions in which it works. Maybe Ifi would like to chime in to clarify

the composer does have good bass extension but it also has too much treble for my taste, i think austrian audio products all have a certain treble boost that they go for

I tested it balance D70 octo --> Ifi pro ican --> Diana MR listening. Apparently I listen to "Alt Z" whatever that means. Thought I listened to indie pop/pop/edm but not sure how people tag/come up with genre names anymore
