Agreed except for IEMs. Every IEM I tried had more than enough isolation to do in-depth comparisons and determine if it was worth a purchase or not. Even a relatively silent room like Dan Clark's booth was enough to realize how brilliant the Susvara is.

Cosmetically acceptable for a webcam pointed directly at your face. What’s important there is the width of the pads and cups. In this regard Empyrean and MDR-Z1R look like winter earmuffs and the HD800 all but disappears.
