I don't see why you'd need to mod the Sony ones as their sd card slot should support up to 2TB?- Glendo90

Hi all. I stumbled across something the other day when swapping drives around in my iPods, can you just tell me if i was dreaming? So, i had an Ipod 5th Gen (normal Apple OS with no search function) with a 30gb hard drive and i swapped it out for an 80gb drive, already formatted, from a 5.5 gen...- Glendo90

Couple of things to try before you open the case and replace... 1. Try a new charging lead (cheapest option) 2. Are you using a genuine apple charger for the right voltage? 3. Check its not just frozen on a certain screen by forcing a restart. (Hold menu and select for 5 seconds). 4. If it...- Glendo90

It's a 7th gen ipod 160gb. Can be comfortably expanded up to 2tb using 4 x 500gb cards. However i believe some have gone higher. This is an insane amount of music (even at lossless) so should be enough for most people.- Glendo90

There's definitely a knack to it, but having at least three thin metal putty knives is definitely the way to go. Make sure you get the knife in the tiny gap sideways before adjusting the angle to go in and down to avoid scratching the metal. The more ioods i open the more efficient i become...- Glendo90

Dude. You shouldn't be damaging things. The key is to use more than one of those thin metal opening knives (iflash sell them), know the areas to work on/avoid when opening and take your time. Then once open, just take care. Hold the battery connector down when releasing the ribbon to avoid...- Glendo90

Rockbox has its advantages, but having tried it i can't help feeling it gives the resulting UI a bit of a second class feel (and I tried a few different UI skins). Itunes, for all its frustrations, gives a more satisfying look and a smoother playback experience IMO.- Glendo90

New one for you all to mull over... There's plenty on here about huge size modded ipods (4TB?) and I myself have a 512gb 7th gen (which is as big as I could possibly need). However, I am seeing if I can mod an older gen ipod for as cheaply as possible... I am trying to Mod a 4th gen Ipod with...- Glendo90

HI guys. Newbie here who has gone all in and bought 3 Ipods (2 x 7g and 1 x 5.5g). One of the 7g models I have left with the stock 160gb hard drive, one I have modded with an iFlash Quad and had 256gb memory installed, the third was a 30gb 5.5g which I have modded up to 160gb using the salvaged...- Glendo90
