To my ears these headphones sound much better played loud when paired with an iPhone 8+. Would using a DAC Amplifier do much to improve the sound at lower volumes? (When still paired with an iPhone?)

Listening to Spotify, I find these a more enjoyable listen with EQ set to Bass Reducer. I find the bass a little over powering otherwise.

Do the 99s sound noticeably better using a Dragonfly Red, as opposed to not when playing music from an iPhone 8?

These 99s definitely have more bass than both the Oppo PM3 and Hifiman HE400S I owned previously. I imagine it will take a little getting used to.

Just received the 99 Noirs. Is it just me or do the smaller pads that are supplied as spares sound so much better than the larger ones that come pre-installed?

Would the Oppo HA-2 sufficiently power a pair of HE400i headphones? Just wondering why the recommendation appears to be 400S over 400i. I know the 400S is the preferred mobile recommendation but is there not a decent Mobile amp/dac that can power the 400i?
