AudioQuest Dragonfly Review : Affordable, Outstanding, Tiny DAC / Amp
I'm trying to use my Dragonfly with Linux (Ubuntu 12.04 and Debian Sid both) and I'm seeing a strange problem. I can select the DAC via pulseaudio, but when the volume is <100% and I plug my quite sensitive IE8 IEMs in the volume is very very low. When I set the volume == 100%, the sound is so...- nxmehta

Beginner Headphone DAC + Amp for < $250?
I'm brand new to using headphone amps and DACs. One of the main reasons I'm looking into this now is that I want to get some nice monitors for my PC, and almost all of them lack a headphone out. So I figured it's time to get a real headphone amp that can double as a switch. My budget is...- nxmehta

Recommendations for computer speakers with headphone out?
I'm looking for a pair of 2.0 speakers for my PC. I would really really like them to have a headphone out jack. I would rather not deal with manually switching between cans and speakers, plus my PC is not in a place where I can easily get to the headphone jack. I want to plug my headphones...- nxmehta

Sennheiser IE8 Impressions Thread
WOW. These headphones are superb! Recently my nearly 5 year old Shure e500's fell apart due to cracking cables. So, the last couple of weeks I've been in the market for a high end universal IEM. This has been my experience so far: Shure SE535: These were the first ones I tried...- nxmehta

Westone 3 Impressions Thread
Can any Westone 3 owners comment on the long term durability of the cables? Specifically: 1. Are the cables unwinding/unraveling a big deal? Is there a way to fix them if they unravel? 2. How much does it cost to get Westone CS to fix it, if your warranty is up? 3. Anyone had...- nxmehta

Westone 3 long term durability?
I own a pair of Shure e500's and they are literally falling apart. The cables are cracking in about 12 different places. So I'm in the market for a new pair of IEMs. I've tried the IE8's and the SE535s but didn't like them that much... I'm thinking about trying the Westone 3's as they...- nxmehta

Shure SE535: Reviews and First Impressions Thread
Quote: I wish I could have someone else over to my house to listen to my E500s and SE535s and confirm how crazy different they sound... I mean I'm certainly not an expert on headphones (still learning a lot of the vocabulary used here!) but they are very different to me. There is a...- nxmehta

Shure SE535: Reviews and First Impressions Thread
Can anyone comment on how the Sennheiser IE8s compare to the SE535s? Do they have stronger bass (it seems like you can adjust the bass via a dial)? I very much prefer warm IEMs. How is the clarity of the highs and the soundstage? And the fit?- nxmehta

Shure SE535: Reviews and First Impressions Thread
I just bought these, I've been a very long time e500 user but the cords on those phones are literally falling apart. So I thought it was time to upgrade. I LOVED the e500s. I really like how shure fixed the cables on the SE535s, but my goodness listening through these is like listening...- nxmehta

Two potentially dumb questions about custom IEMs
I performed a couple of searches but couldn't get definitive answers to these two questions about custom IEMs, so I want to apologize if I missed them. 1. Since you're getting a custom ear mold when you get a pair of these, what happens if the shape of your ear changes? Does it ever really...- nxmehta
