Fiio E10k causing distortion, poor
Apologies for the repost, but I got enough new information that it felt necessary. I bought a Fiio E10k for use with my ATH-M40X, not because they need it, but because the audio port to my computer is broken. However, the sound quality i'm getting out of it seems really low in general, but for...- luxxum

Fiio E10k causing distortion
I recently bought an e10k for my ATX M40x (I know it doesn't need an amp, but I needed to bypass the audio jacks because they have stopped working, and figured I might as well get a Dac/Amp while i'm at it), and it seems to be causing distortion at the high end, turning it into a sort of...- luxxum

New sound card sounds smoothed over
Due to a problem with my computer's audio jack, I have had to use the external sound card that came packaged with a pair of g430 headphones I bought several years ago. Recently it started to fail on me, so I bought a Sound Blaster Audigy Rx sound card to replace it. However, the new sound card...- luxxum

Replacement Pads for M40x
Hello, I was considering getting the M40x's, but heard that the stock pads can get pretty uncomfortable after a few hours. I started looking for some replacement pads to help with this, but a lot of reviews say that they change the sound, generally for the worse, lowering the bass drastically...- luxxum

What should I look for in headphones
Hello, I am looking at getting some relatively nice headphones, but don't know what to look for. Every review I read seems to list a ton of good things about a pair, but then lists just as many reasons to look at others. Since I don't have anywhere to go to hear them in person and find a pair I...- luxxum

A few basic questions
Hello, I was looking at upgrading my current headphones (g430s) to the Momentum 2.0's. However, I had a few questions before purchasing them: How do you quantify the emphasis of a pair of headphones? If something is bass-heavy (like I hear the momentums are, or at least...- luxxum

Similar headphones to the PM-3?
Hello, I recently bought the Oppo PM-3. Although I loved the audio, I found the earcups too small (in depth, not size. I have pretty small ears, they just poke out a bit). I couldn't use them for more than an hour or so before my ears started hurting, so I had to return them. I was wondering...- luxxum

Ear cup modification for Oppo PM-3
Hello, I recently bought an Oppo PM-3, and really like the sound. However, the ear cups are too small for me, and I am heavily contemplating sending them back. Are there any modifications I can add the them to make the cups bigger? I understand the cups can't be changed for something else since...- luxxum

How to lower listening strain?
I recently bought an Oppo PM-3 and cannot listen to it for more than around 30 min to an hour without causing ear or headaches. Someone suggested that I lower the 4-8k range by a few db, and that helped, but did not solve the problem. Are there any other things I could try to do to fix this?- luxxum

New headphones hurt my ears?
I recently upgraded from the g430 to the Oppo PM-3. I also bought a sound blaster z, and am running the Oppo through them. My problem is that even after 30 min-1 hour of listening, my ears are hurting really badly. I was watching a livestream on twitch, and I had to turn the streamer all the...- luxxum

double-check my intended purchase?
Hi, After asking around on this forum for a bit, I have decided to purchase an Oppo PM-3, a Soundblaster ZX, and a modmic. I want to use this an a general all-around headset, with the soundcard just guaranteeing that I have enough power for the headset. It would be used with my phone, for...- luxxum

do dac/amps fix the higher volume=better quality sound problem?
Hello, with my current, soon-to-be-replaced headphones (g430s), you need to keep the volume above a certain level or else the music loses quality. I understand from looking around that at least for lower end headphones this is due to lowering the volume equating to not having enough electricity...- luxxum

cheap soundcard or amp/dac for oppo pm-3
Hello, I am considering getting an Oppo pm-3 (first higher-end headphone purchase), and have been told that while it doesn't need an amp, it definitely is helped by one. I was considering getting a cheap soundcard like the Audigy FX or the Xonar DGX as they have built in headphone amps, but I am...- luxxum
