Hi, After asking around on this forum for a bit, I have decided to purchase an Oppo PM-3, a Soundblaster ZX, and a modmic.

I want to use this an a general all-around headset, with the soundcard just guaranteeing that I have enough power for the headset. It would be used with my phone, for gaming, and general music (listen to just about every kind of music to some degree, so a headset that can do any kind at least passably is needed).

My question is: As this is my first time buying a higher-quality headset, I want to make sure I am not missing anything or buying something that there is a better alternative for. Is there anything obvious I am missing or something I should get instead? The items listed completely max out my budget ($550).

Hard to say.  THere's various ways to max your budget, and one person's definition better may not be "better" in another's mind.  That said, PM-3 should be fine.  Not a huge fan of it but I know people who are.   Can't tell you about the creative device.
