    Gun-Fi

Newest as of a few days ago: Tikka T1X in 17HMR. Immediately removed factory stock, put it in KRG Bravo FDE chassis, and added cheek pad, muzzle brake, longer bolt knob, scope mounts, and scope. The scope is the one which was on the Sig Cross, decided to transfer it to the Tikka and upgrade...

    Gun-Fi

I've often thought about a .30cal air rifle... the FX Dreamline series or Edgun Leshiy 2 would be the ones interested in. But would rather spend that kind of money on different firearms. Have a couple .22 airguns that I enjoy quite a bit for backyard precision shooting - a Benjamin Cayden PCP...

How the final version of my Savage 10 looked before I let it go: MDT TAC21 chassis with Masterpiece Arms EVG grip and a Magpul buttstock. Also upgraded the extractor parts since it was very weak and an issue. Wanted a lighter .308 bolt gun setup and went with this for a significant bit of...

Denon AH-D5200 (little brother of the AH-D7200)

Stock and un-eq'd I'd agree on the AH-D5200... but modded with the Yaxi Alcantara pads they are as punchy as any Fostex with my setup I've had including the TH-X00 Purplehearts and same for the older Denon AH-D2000 and are the least siblant/treble peaky of all the Fostex/Denon biodynas (AH-D2000...

Denon AH-D5200 (little brother of the AH-D7200)

I've only heard the Atticus and Ori on my setup and not directly compared with the modded AH-D5200, but have directly compared with my modded Fostex TH-X00 Purpleheart and neither has anywhere close to the subbass punch & presence of the Purplehearts. The AH-D5200 with Yaxi TH610 Alcantara pads...

Denon AH-D5200 (little brother of the AH-D7200)

The right DAC and tubes with EQ and the Yaxi Alcantara TH610 pads are what really make the AH-D5200 stand out to me and why I got rid of the Fostex TH-X00 PH... prefer the bit more expansive and layered sound with excellent clarity and improved mids from modded AH-D5200 on such setup over modded...

    Another hobby to replace audio?

I think photography would be the most analogous hobby to headphones/music listening one could do as it can cover both the equipment and media/subject which you are trying to observe/enjoy/give your spin on.

Denon AH-D5200 (little brother of the AH-D7200)

Everyone is different... I much prefer modded Fostex TH-X00 PH and Denon AH-D5200 to the ZMFs I've heard. The Fostex / Denon biodyna drivers have a fuller, more solid & pleasant sound to me along with more perceptable and visceral subbass presence.

Denon AH-D5200 (little brother of the AH-D7200)

Still enjoying the D5200 - no itch to buy any new headphones or audio related stuff at all. Modded D5200 and Porta-Pros are all I need and am satisfied with to enjoy music and shows/movies. The past two months have been into custom modding a 4WD Kyosho Inferno 1/8th RC buggy... already spent...

    RME ADI-2 DAC Thread

Can't help with MacBook file/play input but do like how an optical media player sounds over laptop running digital files. Use Xbox One as my optical drive for CDs, DVD-As, BD-As, and BD media... Xbox ONE -> RME ADI-2 -> Project Ember II with Sovtek 6H30P-EB tube is my preferred setup using...

    Philips Fidelio X3

Tried the suede, didn't like what they did to the sound at all... liked their comfort though. Would be interested in trying the elite velours if they keep comfort of the suede and but don't butcher the sound. Haven't heard anyone talk about how they sound on an X3 but should be the best...

Denon AH-D5200 (little brother of the AH-D7200)

I like warm...and my work setup right now is pretty warm: AH-D5200 w/ Yaxi TH610 Alcantara pads + Project Ember II w/ 6H23P-EB + DFR + EQ (both Loki and Foobar)... + alien pop :L3000:... Less warm than a Purpleheart though... and I actually really like it for that reason... much more control...

    Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 Review

With the stock pads on D5200 I did find treble a bit bright, tried the Yaxi TH610 pads based on my experience with experiementing with pads on the TH-X00 and the Alcantara version worked very well for it - toned down and smoothed the treble, expanded the sound stage a little bit more, and...

    Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 Review

Can't help with who to go with for fixing/modding... would just try to see if could find a used one with driver issues/headband wear for its chassis parts. Also there is no cheap plastic on a Fostex TH-X00... the only polymers found in the chassis would be in the driver mount housing and the...

    Philips Fidelio X3

Got in the Dekoni pads (Choice Suede) to try with the X3... not really liking them right now. Comfort is good, but they do the Dekoni pad signature move of muddying/muffling up the sound and bloating the bass... X3 sounds more like an X2 now (bloated/muddy low end). Will try some EQ, but just...

Denon AH-D5200 (little brother of the AH-D7200)

Agree... and with Yaxi TH610 Alcantara pads it gets a little more relaxed treble and bit more subbass presence over stock... along with improved comfort. Like a more refined TH-X00 Purpleheart with much less congested sound... the Fostex TH series (modded) simply isn't as good in detail...

    Philips Fidelio X3

Not sure, but for $200 they are an absolutely great headphone. Second favorite to my closed back Denon AH-D5200... another pair I picked up for ~$200. Don't have the beautiful biodyna subbass punch or vocal forwardness of the AH-D5200, but do have a larger sound presentation and a bit warmer/...

Denon AH-D5200 (little brother of the AH-D7200)

You ran them on the Lyr 3? Denon AH-D5200 is tame in low end compared to the Fostex biodynas... much more controlled and detailed where the TH-X00 series have the massive low end with less control and just a bit of bleed into mids. AH-D5200 with Yaxi Alcantara pads is slightly still just a bit...

Denon AH-D5200 (little brother of the AH-D7200)

Based on my experience with Fostex Purplehearts I did actually get both the 'leather' and Alcantara Yaxi TH610 pads...because both worked vety well with the TH-X00. For the AH-D5200, the 'leather' ones provide more low end impact but also bloat the bass more along with increasing the treble a...

Denon AH-D5200 (little brother of the AH-D7200)

YAXI TH610 Alcantara pads... takes the edge off the treble and gain more bass presence, little more spacious sounding as well since physically more room to breathe. They just require a spacer to add to the mounting rings as they would slip off too easily otherwise... easy to make with...
