Small DAC/Amp recommendations
Thanks to all for the advice, I have just bought a Sony Nw-Wm1a DAP, and I'll run a mod firmware on it. I want to see if I will start taking it with me rather than using my Detonray / BTR7. If I use it enough, I will save some cash and buy a new high-end DAP, if it stays on the shelf, I have my...- gibant1

Which DAP from shortlist of 3
Sadly it's impossible for me to audition gear and have to buy blind, I was also considering a mojo2 with Poly but the reviews seem a bit mixed on that combination.- gibant1

Which DAP from shortlist of 3
I'm still undecided atm as it appears the higher quality of DAP the larger and heavier they are. I looked at the R8ii and while everything looks good review-wise, it's quite the brick. Not sure I would want to take it over the convenience of the Detonray SG-1 SE which sounds great and is much...- gibant1

Go Custom or not?
Thanks for all the advice, I have been following Dunring's approach until this point. The cost isn't an issue and I don't sell stuff as I can't be bothered dealing with unscrupulous people which has been my experience, in the past. I shall ponder the advice before pulling the trigger one way or...- gibant1

Go Custom or not?
I'll stick with standard ones, I'm not having fitting issues (after I started using Azla ear tips) and the ears changing is a little worrying. Thanks for the information.- gibant1

Go Custom or not?
Hi, I'm considering getting some Penon Volt earphones and was wondering if it's worth going for a custom fit. What are the real benefits and are there any downsides?- gibant1

IEM Suggestions for £750/950$
I don't know whether this helps but I think the Hero is like my Sendy Peacock or JM Audio XTC 1.5 but sometimes I still use my HD800s and HifiMan Arya Stealth for a more chilled-out critical listen.- gibant1

IEM Suggestions for £750/950$
Sadly we don't have anything like that where I live, I have to buy blind. I listen to a wide range of music. While I love the Hero they are very lively, you're not going to sleep after a session listening to them.- gibant1

IEM Suggestions for £750/950$
Hi, Having just started my IEM journey, I Purchased some Empire Ears Hero and a Penon cable advised by another Head-fi member. It sounds fantastic but as usual, I want to try more, I purchased a few cheap units and was incredibly impressed at what you get for the money compared to full-size...- gibant1

Small DAC/Amp recommendations
Having recently started using IEM, I wondered whether to get a Chord Mojo 2 or some of the dongle Dacs. I use Bluetooth on my BTR7 or My Dethonray Pegasus SG-1 Se. They sound great, Particularly the SG1 Se, but when I plugged in an Old Mojo, I was still impressed with that sound. I have...- gibant1

DT 990 vs HD 598
I have both headphones, The DT990's are better for Movies and games. As for music the DT990's have better sound stage and are more exciting. Listening to Metal on the 598's is boring and lifeless but if you like more relaxed music, say folk, the 598's are far more pleasant to listen to.- gibant1

Thanks for the advice. After ProtegeManiac mentioned the DAC I started thinking the Korg Dac I was using may not be up to the task. In the end I have purchased the Chord Mojo. Sounds fantastic and powers the T1's no problem at all. As to whether I should consider a seperate amp at a...- gibant1
