DAC's & Amp's w/neutral sound
as I've been reading and learning, DAC's and Amps can color your sound, so I'd like to find out what would be recommended for a beginner that have a neutral sound, letting the headphones show the warmth or coolness of their sound. I'm talking about solid state...R2R and Tube naturally give...- Friendly

QUAD ERA-1 Thread
how so? he said that the Final is a much better headphone, as it should be due to it's price. that doesn't invalidate that the Era-1 is also a good headphone, but one more fitting for it's price, in some cases, punching above it's weight.- Friendly

QUAD ERA-1 Thread
hey FB, I should have mentioned that I have the HE-35x (meh), the HE-4xx and the Stax SRS-2100...and definitely prefer open back over closed back. for wireless I have the Senn HD4.40BT's...they're okay. I do appreciate the long battery life and their excellent noise isolation though. if I want...- Friendly

yes, the Magni 3 and the JDS Labs Atom are both very well regarded. I should mention I also was thinking about adding the Valhalla 2 tube amp to my stack...though with so meany third gen revisions coming out, I should probably wait for the Valhalla 3 ;)- Friendly

QUAD ERA-1 Thread
so I stumbled on these somehow and realize that the Era-1 will be my next headphone. however, I need to buy a DAC n amp and would appreciate suggestions. I've always wanted a simple stack like the Schiit Magni 3, Modi 3 and Loki...but perhaps they would impair the sound compared to a more...- Friendly

Wireless Open Back Headphones
I'm not so sure on that. if anything, it's just a market, or niche, that's still in it's infancy. while not open back, Audeze has the Morphius which is pretty much everything I want, minus the open back. :)- Friendly

Wireless Open Back Headphones
thanks for that CL. just to throw a curve, is there such a thing as open back earbuds? if so, are there any wireless models? was reading a review on top open back headphones and in the honorable mentions they listed the Air Pod 2's. no idea if they really are open, but if they are, hmmm!- Friendly

Wireless Open Back Headphones
I'm looking for open back wireless headphones. I do sales from a home office and have a desk full of IP phones and using my Senn HD 4.40BT's, even with the phone ringer turned up to max, I may miss call. open back are what I'm used to and I prefer their sound stage, but in this case, they'll...- Friendly

headphones that punch above their weight?
I had an epiphany on the weekend after listening to the HiFiMan HE1000 v2's. my gods...they were beautiful. I know some of that has to do with the other equipment used too, but I only know the AMP used, which was a IFI PRO ICAN...don't know the DAC that was used. never thought to ask...- Friendly

looking for ways to enhance my headphones...
just bought the DAC and filter today...they're very well regarded and I am quite impressed with how much clearer the sound is on my HE-4xx's. I was considering getting a Schiit Stack or something from Mayflower, but happened upon a 35% off sale on the AudioQuest gear, so went with that. :)... -
