Rupert Neve Designs Announces The RNHP: Precision Headphone Amplifier

I REALLY like this amp. Im returning after a long hiatus, pairing it with grados, and it continues to punch me in the same ways it did before. There are no secrets with the RNHP. Its brazen. It lifts the skirts up of every 24bit flac track and allows me to take a big long peek at what went...

    Buy "OSSIC X" or not?

No ATMOS apparantly.  I saw that confirmed on the kickstarter comments page.   I was enthusiastic about OSSIC and got in as an early bird backer right at the start.  I regret that now, the long wait has put me off and if I could I would cancel my order.  There will be no usb-c connection...

    E-MU Wooden Series Headphones

I'll try and answer as best as I can - after an initial phase of swapping and comparing, Ive more or less just stuck with rosewood because they are my preference.  My last impressions of the two other cups were quite a while ago.  I would say the ebony have reasonably more bass than rosewood...

    E-MU Wooden Series Headphones

Hi CoFire, sorry for not answering your earlier post.  I think the ebonies would suit hip hop/rap style music best.  Its not a genre I listen to often but the ebony cups (from my experience) give a lot of heavy bass with low and thick thud.  I feel the top end is muffled but perhaps my...

    E-MU Wooden Series Headphones

I think it would be helpful to accept that there is a lot of variance between cups, even those of the same wood type.  Dont get so hung up on wood types and just go for a set to complement the teaks.  (and they will complement them, having a different design and sound).   Even though I'm...

    E-MU Wooden Series Headphones

Having briefly touched on this earlier in the thread, Ive been biting my tongue on this topic for some while now. The pic above show my ebony and rosewood cups together. You can see the obvious difference in grain cuts, Chan was kind enough to let me choose my cups and I singled out both sets...

    Buy "OSSIC X" or not?

The speed of sound under normal conditions is around 770 mph.  Coming from either side of our head the sound will reach one ear fractions of a second before the other ear but it will still hit one ear first.  Our brains and ears have developed so much to be tuned into this time lapse that we use...

The Rupert Neve Headphone Amp is a fantastic match with eMu teaks.  Anyone else here tried it?

Rupert Neve Designs Announces The RNHP: Precision Headphone Amplifier

I really like this amp.  I think I read somewhere somebody describe it as "not harsh".  I actually think it is harsh.  But it cuts with such precision, such speed, that like a million scalpels stabbing at a song it reveals so much more than a conventional amp would.  As mentioned before it...

    E-MU Wooden Series Headphones

I havent tried the purpleheart, only teak, rosewood and ebony. The cups are so individual though that its unwise to group each cup of similar wood type as identical. A good example of this is the quarter grain cups vs cross grain cups discussed earlier in the thread

    E-MU Wooden Series Headphones

Yes but you infer that density/hardness directly relates to bass. Im trying to explain that because of the difference in chamber design, this isnt the case. If you have tried the different cups you would know this. For levels of bass I would order the cups more as...

    E-MU Wooden Series Headphones

Have to disagree with you, thats actually quite misleading. The rosewood is of a similar density to the purpleheart and ebony, so it has lots of bass but with just a little more sparkle in the treble to give it an edge over the other two. Remember the teak has an entirely different chamber...

I highly recommend the teak cups but its also worth choosing another bass-heavier wood to complement the teak, esp if you're a fan of the purpleheart sound.  My personal favourite and recommendation is the rosewood.

    LG V20 Sound Quality

Apologies, I have no experience with the v10. I went through the bootloop with my g3 and a new battery sorted it. I guess there can be different causes for each individual case

    LG V20 Sound Quality

The bootloop 'issue' on lg is caused by a failing battery. Replacing the battery solves it, its not a design flaw.

    E-MU Wooden Series Headphones

I find the easiest way to swapping cups is   1.  Remove pads 2.  Hold the earphone cup-side down and unscrew the screws.  Do not remove screws 3.  Keep holding earphone cup side down and remove cup.  You should now have 4 screws dangling down. 4.  Decide which way you want the new cups...

oooo very nice - love those rosewood cups.  And you got a very distinctive set of teak cups as well, congratulations!  I predict you will find both sound sigs very different but agreeable.  Wishing you lots of fun swapping back and forward!

Rupert Neve Designs Announces The RNHP: Precision Headphone Amplifier

This is strange because I have zero noise floor with my amp.  Its the RNHPs main strength imo.  Faulty unit??

    E-MU Wooden Series Headphones

I found that having a correct seal with the ear pads is critical to getting the best sound out the eMus. It sounds obvious, but the pads are angled so, that if no attention is paid they can quite easily sit askew on my head. I usually wear them with the headband sitting quite forward on my head...
