Wait for 8g iPod Classic or get one now?
What's holding you back from getting a classic now or even finding a 5g and diymod-ing it? If you're fine with hard drive style storage why wait? Since everything has a music player tacked on most consumers probably think the classic is a one trick pony, but I don't think Apple would ever...- machineo

Headphone accidents / mishaps.
Most of the time my stuff breaks because I take it apart and mess with it. Usually with the intention of trying to improve it. Luckily as far as headphones go, i've only wrecked some Koss KSC75s, though my Grados could use a recabling...- machineo

Houston, TX Hi-fi stores
This is an older thread, but there's still Sweet Spot down past Pearland. The other places listed don't feature phones apparently. http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/500754/headphone-retailer-in-houston-tx- machineo

Workout music
I can hear some guys' music leaking from their headphones. They're blasting angry metal, and that's just chilling in the sauna. -
SanDisk Sansa Clip+ Impressions

AMAZON KINDLE vs SONY READERS
If you check out your local targets/walmarts some may stock the old PRS-505 and are cutting the prices down. From 299 to 230, 200, 170, it depends on the store that's clearancing it. The 505 is the last generation, but has a huge fanbase. It has the 5" screen, expansion slot, plays mp3s...- machineo

Best Headphones for Jazz
another good used choice would be the akg 501's which you could find a lot cheaper >150 maybe and have an expansive soundstage. if you want something new, the a900's are right at your budget limit, and are compatible with just about everything musically.- machineo

Recommendations for closed, circumaural, single-sided cord headphone?
i think the beyers recommended are supra-aural. you dont have much choice but to increase your budget if you want new. a good set would be the a500s but those are like 100 new. or mod a pair of cans to be single sided.- machineo

What program to tag mp3's?
i use id3-tagit. im gonna be trying the other 2 listed, but ive liked id3's batch tagging, version transfers, case conversions, and filename<->tag renaming.- machineo

a circum-aural alt. to K81DJ
im in the same boat as you are, looking for some well isolating cans for library/class use. your other options would be the foldable senn hd280 pros which from what ive gathered, have a love/hate deal with the population here. the sony 7506's are also closed and are tried and true contenders...- machineo
