Cheapest way to amplify aux from a phone to old shelf speakers?

seems like pretty much all of that got discontinued. All good though, this vintage $10 receiver I found actually works perfect for what I needed, it took 5 tries to find one with both channels working!

Cheapest way to amplify aux from a phone to old shelf speakers?

Definitely. It is frankly shocking how unreliable they seem to be though. This will be the 5th time I have tried this so far, all 4 other ones I have borrowed from people to try have had weird audio processing problems. This one looks good to go.

Cheapest way to amplify aux from a phone to old shelf speakers?

I'll consider it. There's problems I would have, I would rather not have to take apart my PC audio setup every time I go, and I need to be able to go back to bare wire if I have to quickly because my grandpa still likes the old broken stereo. Ideally I'm looking for something cheap that accepts...

Cheapest way to amplify aux from a phone to old shelf speakers?

They are hardwired, I know I was shocked myself when I found out. The back of the speakers is even glued on all the way around so in order to open them up to rewire them I would probably need to smash the back in with a hammer. There's no clips or anything.

Cheapest way to amplify aux from a phone to old shelf speakers?

I have an SA-50 hooked up on my PC audio setup, It's banana plugs only though and rewiring my old speakers to banana plugs is probably not an option.

Cheapest way to amplify aux from a phone to old shelf speakers?

I have a pair of vintage shelf speakers hooked up at my cottage similar to the picture below. They're currently hooked up to a stack of stereos that are all blatantly broken in one obvious way or another. Some of them only have one channel, some of them are casette players that will not even...

Looking to modify my RE-400s for comfort, where do I begin?

I have a pair of HiFiMAN RE-400 IEMs that probably don't see as much use as they could because I find them at present very uncomfortable, although I like the sound. My main problems are:   If I leave them in my ears normally so that the cord points down, I get horrible microphonics and the...

Review by 'drambit' on item 'HiFiMAN RE-400'

I bought these in early May based on nearly unanimous recommendation from people on a bunch of websites, and I must say they don't live up to their reputation. Some of the common things people pointed out were that they are excellent for the price, they have great mids, and they have bad build...

HiFiMan RE-400, how long is the usual burn-in period?

Just received these IEMs in the mail, and I have to say that right off the bat they sound like ****, complete ****. Not just lacking bass, but no bass, extremely tinny, for some reason the sound sounds excessively distant / weak as if they aren't even in my ears, basically all the telltale signs...

    Winnipeg meets' thread (Ongoing)

What are some good audio shops in Winnipeg? I'm looking to buy a pair of HiFiMan RE-400 IEMs, but Amazon doesn't carry them.

Looking for IEMs under $100 CAD

Listen to many different and opposing genres, classical, heavy metal, techno, classic rock, blues, country, so neutrality is important. Occasionally I play games with headphones so I would like as big of a soundstage as I can reasonably get for this price. I want to use them primarily for...

Noise isolation makes me constantly paranoid

Not sure if I'm alone in this but it has been bothering me for a long time. I normally use a standard 2.1 stereo speaker system for listening to music, and open-back headphones for listening on the go. I want to switch to in-ear monitors for casual listening, but I find that as soon as I put...

Looking for a better alternative to apple stock earbuds

Given that earbuds have much more mass market appeal than most other types of headphones I would rather buy them locally from a well known brand like Sony or something. Just not sure what company or what price point is good for earbuds.

Looking for a better alternative to apple stock earbuds

I spent a good solid month looking for and trying out over-ear headphones in the ~$200 range, and ended up discovering that there is no headphones in that range that are closed back, very comfortable, and sound good, they all have some major draw back that turn me off, so I'm thinking I'll just...

Looking for a good pair of over-ear headphones under $200 CAD.

A little while ago I purchased a pair of Audio Technica ATH-M50s, and although the sound quality was decent the mids sucked, the ear-pads didn't go all the way around my ear, and the headband clamped way too hard on my head causing jaw cramps during long sessions, so I took them back. I am...

Very unsatisfied with ATH M50, looking for advice/help.

I'm not at all concerned with emphasis on bass. As long as it performs well I'm fine with it, because I listen to so many different genres. I'm looking at a pair of 558's once I get my money back for the M50s but I'm not sure. I'm looking for neutral, probably closed back because I'm in public a...

Very unsatisfied with ATH M50, looking for advice/help.

I decided I'm returning my M50s because even after a little bit of stretching the clamp is just unbearable, the mids aren't even that bad on the M50s although they are very obviously recessed. I was actually looking to buy the 7506 set before I ended up buying M50s, but I don't know why but they...

Wow. I just tried stretching the headband to see what would happen, god damn world of difference. I used to have this problem with these headphones that I couldn't sing along to music under my breath, which bothered my a lot when I first got these in the mail. At first I attributed it to...

I only roll over-ear headphones. Ironically that's one of my biggest problems with the ATH-M50, one of the most popular over-ear headphones ever. It doesn't feel over-ear, it feels on-ear because of how shallow the cups are.

Very unsatisfied with ATH M50, looking for advice/help.

Not really sure what I want, because I listen to a wide variety of music. I mainy listen to trance, which the M50 happens to be amazing for, but when it comes to metal they are atrocious because voices are way too quiet and recessed. The recessed mids are even obvious when listening to classical...

Very unsatisfied with ATH M50, looking for advice/help.

Long story short, earlier this month I purchased the popular ATH-M50 set of headphones. They clamp on my jaw too hard, they don't even come close to fitting my ear inside so they rub on my ear lobes, and the mids are awful, despite the very good lows and highs.    I can still return them to...
