Just received these IEMs in the mail, and I have to say that right off the bat they sound like ****, complete ****. Not just lacking bass, but no bass, extremely tinny, for some reason the sound sounds excessively distant / weak as if they aren't even in my ears, basically all the telltale signs of lack of burn-in. 
 
How long do these things usually take to start sounding decent?

Deep insertion should help. And these little things are quite power hungry, they are not easy to drive.
