How Many Times Have Your LCD3 Headphones Been Returned to Audeze for Servicing (RMA)?

Add me to the list of concerned customers. I am another huge fan of the Audeze house sound and eager to upgrade to the LCD-3, in fact I had bought a pair of the phones and had to return it 2 days later due to cosmetic issues with the wooden cups. Since then I have been following various threads...

    New Audeze LCD3

Agreed. Long time lurker here, and I had problems with cracked rings on my LCD-2s, went to my dealer to purchase the LCD-3s a few weeks ago and saw cracks on both cups on the display model! Dealer is the in the process of exchanging them and said the phones were only put on display since...

    Audeze EL-8: The EL-8 is a must-hear at CES 2015

Darn! Really sorry to hear about this! Now I feel the need to get the LCD-3 I've been eyeing...

HD800 too bright for violin recordings

Haha I was JUST listening to her performance of Souvenir de Florence (http://youtu.be/vulKECq4r60).   Out of curiosity, which amp are you currently using? I keep on hearing other people's claim that amps make such a huge difference in HD800's sound so I'm looking into auditioning a few...

HD800 too bright for violin recordings

I play the violin from time to time myself, admittedly not very good and I rarely reach the very high notes, but to my ears it sounds nothing like the HD800.. After some more listening and reflection I've decided perhaps the fault lies in the poor mastering, as I found the high notes to be...

    Audeze EL-8: The EL-8 is a must-hear at CES 2015

Right, I meant compairing post fazor LCD2s vs post fazor LCD3s, I'm wondering if the extra thousand dollar is worthwhile for simple leisure listening. I have a HD800 for my critical listening needs..

    Audeze EL-8: The EL-8 is a must-hear at CES 2015

Great write up! How would you compare the LCD3Fs vs the LCD2Fs for simple recreational/leisure listening? All the reviews so far seem to draw the conclusion that the LCD3s are technically superior than the LCD2s but not by much.

Are planar magnetic drivers more fragile?

http://www.head-fi.org/t/574616/the-audeze-lcd-2-ortho-thread-new/6735#post_11156186   http://www.head-fi.org/t/753171/no-shame-on-audeze-buyer-neednt-beware   I don't think I've ever needed warranty repairs - other than than needing new cables/ear cups - on any other headphones I've owned...

Are planar magnetic drivers more fragile?

I have been following some threads on this forum regarding the relatively-high failure rates of ortho-drivers, I don’t recall or experience driver failures in “more conventional” headphones. Is this technology inherently more prone to failure?

No Shame on Audeze!!! Buyer needn't beware.

Count me in as an another unhappy Audeze customer (http://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/2uhio3/poor_finish_on_audeze_lcd3/co8ggt7)... pretty sure I'll just return the LCD-3s and be done with them at this point. Very disappointed with my experiences with them - cracked wooden ring on LCD-2...

HD800 too bright for violin recordings

I do find them to be transparent hence very source dependent. I guess a lot of recording are mastered on the brighter side nowadays...

    The (new) HD800 Impressions Thread

I heard very good things on the WA6se, may worth checking it out. It's supposed to be a warmer sounding amp which pairs well with HD800s for a more pleasing sound.

HD800 too bright for violin recordings

Hey I've tried using low gain (1.0X) with the O2/ODAC and High Impedance settings on the WA7, both sounds really close imo.   The source definitely makes a huge difference I find, I guess most of them tend to be mastered a bit bright. The LCD-2s, being the "dark water", indeed hide bright...

HD800 too bright for violin recordings

Thanks for the input. Do you mind me asking which amp do you pair it with? I'm using the WA7 and it definitely sounds bright and unnatural to me. But then I'm coming from a LCD-2 so perhaps my ears are used to that?

HD800 too bright for violin recordings

Just wondering if anyone else found the HD800 to be too bright for most violin music? I sometimes find the very high notes almost painful.   e.g. Partita No. 2 In D Minor, BWV 1004.: Ciaccona (http://youtu.be/aBQkRzZYN8I) Beethoven violin concerto http://youtu.be/YIB03fS179s   It's even...

    How comfortable are the LCD-3s

Haha I have to agree that they are indeed the heaviest headphones I've ever worn, which caused my concern, though I have to say I thought the LCD-3 was quite comfortable from the 5 or so minutes I had them on while in the shop. I suspect for multi-hour listening sessions I may have to look...

    How comfortable are the LCD-3s

Thank you b0000,   They are indeed the heaviest headphones I've ever tried so far, I didn't wear them long enough (listened to 1 song and some, so 5-6 min max) to experience any discomfort so I can't comment on that.

    How comfortable are the LCD-3s

Thanks KG Jag,   You are right, I should try to find a pair to audition for some more time before deciding. I just thought they were quite heavy while trying them but it wasn't painful or uncomfortable as some reviews have claimed, but I guess without wearing them for the typical hours it'd be...

    How comfortable are the LCD-3s

Thanks 701,   I have to agree with you that the LCDs (3 in my case) are the heaviest cans I've ever put on my head so far, I think 3s are even more weighty than the LCD-2s, which is why I am having serious doubt about its comfort level for long period listening while sitting, although I didn't...

    How comfortable are the LCD-3s

Just want to gather some thoughts on the comfort level of these cans. I love the audeze sound but the weight is a little bit concerning, they seemed tolerable from the short time I demoed them in store but I'd like to know if you can wear them for hours without discomfort.   My reference is...
