    AKG K271...IMMHO

I find your experience with the K271 completely different from mine. I have moderate hearing loss in the treble and midrange areas, but I find the highs on these razor sharp, crystal clear and even strident on certain recordings! They are not at all muffled. The bass is also very firm and has...

    Akg K400

I find your posts very interesting, as I am wondering whether to buy a pair of K400 ( look like they are LP, black pads and leather headband) on eBay. I wanted to ask you if you have heard the K612, successor to the K601? I really like mine, but wondered whether the K400 would sound sufficiently...

AKG K702 (The Classic) vs. K612 Pro (The Upstart) – Review and Comparison

Anyone here compared the K612 with the K400? Someone asked this question about 3 years ago but got no response... Thanks

    AKG K400/500 compared to K612?

I really like my k612 a lot, but wondered whether it might be worth buying either a vintage K400 or K500 on eBay for around £100. Has anyone here had a chance to audition and compare either of these with the K612?

    AKG K601 & K612 Pro Owners... UNITE!!

A very interesting post! The K612 is quite difficult to judge in terms of burn-in for two reasons; 1. There is a significant variation in samples for some reason only known to AKG 2. To judge burn-in you would have to listen to the same track over a period of time rather than just listening to...

    AKG K601 & K612 Pro Owners... UNITE!!

I know what you mean. The K612 is revealing but also quite forgiving. It reminds me of Beethoven's 5th symphony, so great that it can cope with just about any performance, even with an amateur orchestra their problems and mistakes adds to the inherent sense of struggle. On the other hand, the...

That will be a very interesting comparison

K701 vs K702 Anniversary vs K601 vs K612 vs K712- Compare to each other?

That makes two of us. I used to have the Sennheiser HD598 and gradually realised that, despite their other virtues, they had a midbass hump. This became even more obvious when I replaced them with the K612; more clarity, no hump but instead, a real bass slam and rumble but only if it's on the...

K701 vs K702 Anniversary vs K601 vs K612 vs K712- Compare to each other?

I agree completely with your opinion of the K612, it's the unsung hero of AKG's current headphone range. Because it is relatively cheap and has the undeserved reputation of being very hard to drive properly, it goes under the radar for so many buyers. In some ways it's like one of those holiday...

    AKG K702 Impressions.

K702 and K701 have generally been described as bass-shy, but I wonder how much of that is based on people not driving them with a reasonably powerful amp. I have the K612, known to have +3Db of bass boost built in, but I found the bass overpowering when I used a Fiio A5 to drive it, whereas with...

    AKG K812 Pro

Gutter Rat ist also nicht so teuer! Thanks for warning potential buyers about this possible scam. Like Google with its extremist posters, Amazon really does need to take a closer look at some of its marketplace sellers

    AKG K812 Pro

Thanks for pointing that out. I just saw the price but didn't investigate any further because I am not interested in buying them, as I have already reached my endgame with the K612 at a fraction of the cost

    AKG K812 Pro

Just to let anyone thinking of buying the K812 but understandably deterred by the price, amazon.co.uk has them on today at £483, quite a reduction. The price of these headphones fluctuates wildly from day to day, but this is the lowest price I have seen

The Cayin C5 portable power house.

I am glad that you have managed to get the amp. Hard to believe that the seller on Amazon is advertising them as in stock when they're not

The Cayin C5 portable power house.

That shows that they are pretty incompetent sellers, absolutely useless! It looks like the white version always costs an extra £10 for some reason but unless you are absolutely set on getting the black version, that might be the only way to go. I hope you get what you are looking for

    The Fiio A5 thread: an upgrade of E12A, MUSES02+LME49600, 800mW, 19Vp-p, 12 hours

Nice comparative review! I had a similar experience with the A5, but comparing it with the E17K. I have moderate hearing loss in the treble and midrange areas and I use hearing aids for conversation and when out and about, so for me, clarity is a prime requirement, as I don't want to wear my...

    Fiio E17k Alpen 2

That's a real pity! I was just about to buy an E17K when I read this. I had wrongly assumed that the tone controls were usable on line out. The tone controls were a major plus in my decision. I don't really want to listen via the headphones out from my iPod classic,as the sound from it seems...

    The Fiio A5 thread: an upgrade of E12A, MUSES02+LME49600, 800mW, 19Vp-p, 12 hours

Thanks! I really appreciate your analysis. When I auditioned a C5 via LOD L9 from my iPod classic through AKG K612 the sound was very smooth, so much that I returned the C5 and have since been using a Topping Nx-1 instead. Underpowered, most probably. Better clarity and detail retrieval, to my...

    The Fiio A5 thread: an upgrade of E12A, MUSES02+LME49600, 800mW, 19Vp-p, 12 hours

This comparison is very interesting. I auditioned a C5 via LOD L9 from my iPod classic 160Gb through a pair of AKG K612 headphones and enjoyed it, but actually preferred the sound using my underpowered Topping Nx-1, a bit clearer and less warm/smooth. I also found the bass with the C5 to lack...
