I'm in the same boat. I have a regular headset for my Xbox One and want far better sound than my Skull candy Slyr pair. I want to get the Sennheiser HD598s and use that with my console but I dont know what cables and amp/DAC I need. Help?

And I don't fully know what you mean by "surround sound" like Dolby 7.1? I just know that from everywhere I've read, k712s have phenomenal positional sounds so the surround sound seems kinda bogus
