Consider a Beyerdynamic DT 990 premium not pro plus a Fiio Eo7k... One of the best bassy/EDM/hip-hop combos ever. Scratch that you don't want an open headphone... If have to go with the V-moda M-100 or the Sennheiser Momentum, I sincerely doubt you would like the peaky treble on the K550/551...

yeah they're just as bass heavy but IMO they have a better overall sound, plus they have the option to turn off their bass boost/noise cancelling things. I don't know if you have considered this but take a look at the noontec zoro hd. Has the sound of the m50 but with better aesthetics IMO and it's more portable.

Are you sure you have the beats turned on? The software tends to make it sound worse otherwise.

I have had the opposite experience I found that yeah the beats inflates the bass and treble but that's for its target audience. But usually those laptops have good sound cards and actual decent software. I've definitely noticed an edge in clarity over other laptops in blind tests. But eh...
