    Foobar, JPlay, or JRiver?

As long as they provide something new to try and play with than I think trying JPLay or JRiver sound like worth trying. But paying money doesn't sound like the most exciting thing....

Hey, looking for some good headphones (under 300$)

Quote: Not to mess up your list, but if you don't mind a slightly smaller headphone, you might look at the Audio-Technica ESW9. ...

Using default Foobar with FLAC, any other recommended modifications/plugins/Windows sound settings I should be aware of?

But I don't want to get off topic...   I think the point is to try it out and whatever sounds best is what you should roll with.

Using default Foobar with FLAC, any other recommended modifications/plugins/Windows sound settings I should be aware of?

Quote: It's equivalent to getting a free refill, I don't need it, but why would I say no?   Well more like I joind and happened to find this thread. I have been meaning to join for a while...

Using default Foobar with FLAC, any other recommended modifications/plugins/Windows sound settings I should be aware of?

Quote: What is the point of trying to get a bit for bit audio file and then run it through the Windows mixer? A Fiio E07K will have no problem with WASAPI support, ASIO can be funky though I agree with that.

Using default Foobar with FLAC, any other recommended modifications/plugins/Windows sound settings I should be aware of?

Quote: Well ideally you want the lowest gain, but +6 or +12 dB isn't a ton, and depends on how hard it is to drive the 990s. Initially I think you'll be fine and it will much better than computer audio card or an iPod, but once you step into the world of more powerful amplifiers, you will...

Headphone Upgrade - AudioTechnica (ESW-9 vs. A900X vs. ES10) vs. Beyerdynamic (DT770Pro 32ohm vs. T70P vs. Custom One Pro), etc...

I can see where you are coming from with made in China but as I own the D2000 and MDR-1R, I can say they are both solidly built (although the 1R feel a little to much like plastic). I think the DXK line is the last of good Denon cans, there new stuff looks like they sold out a bit like you...

Portable warm headphones that don't need an amp

Quote: I agree, the MDR-1R are a good choice for portable, they actually stay on my head, and it is big...   Another option for a warm headphone are the Audio-Technica ESW9s. Wood cups, lambskin earpads, very quality. They are on ear, so not sure if you mind that but very comfortable...

Headphones to Replace my Snapped Beats Solo

If you are looking for something with more comfort I would suggest around ear, or circumaural, type headphones. Also, do you still want the "beats" sound are something a little more neutral?   For your price range I would suggest Audio-Technica ATH-M50 or Denon D1100. The M50s seem to be a...

Using default Foobar with FLAC, any other recommended modifications/plugins/Windows sound settings I should be aware of?

I think it is most likely the 88.2 kHz that is messing with your sound card. I have a Creative USB sound card that can do 96 kHz but didn't do 88.2 kHz. There should be an upsampling DSP already with foobar that you could use to downsample to 44.1 if you really wanted, but I'd just wait for the...

    130 gaming headphones

I use the Logitech G35 wireless headset, and it is $130 right now. There is also a wired version but having no wires is great. It has a switch to turn on simulated 7.1 surround which pretty well in game and movies if there is an encoded surround format. But, if you're looking at using them for...

Using default Foobar with FLAC, any other recommended modifications/plugins/Windows sound settings I should be aware of?

What did the error say?    It might be an issue with your sound card. Go to the the "Output" section under preferences (right next to DSP manager). You can try between WASAPI (push) or (event). It just has to do with how it communicates with your sound card. I believe event has issues with...

It looks like you are a picky buyer like me, which is good when there are so many choices!   I might have some points that come a little late, now that I see your list, but here we go...   I have both the ESW9s and D2000s. In terms of bass, they are both great, but you are going to need...

Using default Foobar with FLAC, any other recommended modifications/plugins/Windows sound settings I should be aware of?

An easy add on for Foobar is WASAPI output support. Basically when you output sound from Foobar it goes through the WIndows mixer and then to your headphones. WASAPI output bypasses this and allows for bit exact output. You will lose volume control from Windows (still works in Foobar), but at...

    Foobar, JPlay, or JRiver?

Hello everyone! I'd like to say this is my first post here on Head-Fi, but i have been coming here for about a year now. The first time I came here I didn't own any headphones except for some cheapo's for running, now I have too many they don't fit on my small desk...but I love it!   I used...

What combo is best for HD 598?

Do you plan on doing much portable listening? If so, you might want to look at the Fiio E09K + E07K (or E17) combo, and the Amazon gift card with help with that. The E07K docks into the E09K and acts as the DAC while the E09K acts as the amp. You can then take the E07K on the go with a laptop or...
