Mine is Nagra HD dac with MPS power.

I'm not sure if RCA is better but it sounds surprisingly louder. It seems like when both RCA and XLR are used, the Nagra HD dac gives much more output via RCA.

Hi all, Normally I use XLR cable output to Pre-amp. Yesterday I tried a RCA cable to Pre-amp and it sounded significantly louder than XLR (I kept both RCA and XLR at the same time, and just changed input of the Preamp to hear the different easily). Is it designed like that ?

Tks for your advice. I've tried all your suggestion but it seems not working. I've also just tried to connect the Xm4 to my laptop, playing youtube music at 100% computer volume & 90% youtube volume = normal level. Somehow I feel like using an inefficient headphone. My FW version is 1.2.6

I guess my XM4 has a hardware issue. I always listen to music (Qobuz app) at normal lever. My Jabra 65T sounds about 15% louder than the Sony.

I use XM4 with my iphone 12 pro. When I changed volume in Sony app, it changed the volume bar of iphone up and down as well, pls see attached photo. How to get 2 separate volume set?!?

My XM4 sounds weak, I always have to keep volume at 100 to sound at normal level. Anyone have the same issue?

Is there anyone here trying i2s of the Nagra HD dac? The manual says it’s reserved for future product. Now Denafrips Gaia is giving i2s over Rj45, I’m not sure if they are compatible.

Have you tried the audio setting menu? For HD dac, I can sellect either Direct or Variable via Audio setting.

When I turn on the HD dac, it always start with “mute” and the blinking “D” appeared at the LCD, then I have to press to unmute which is quite annoying. Is there anyway to start with unmute by default?
