I have small ears and use philips she 3590s. they are ridiculously good for the price but you may want something better. not really sure how they compare to earbuds in the $60-100 range.

I'll definitely take that into consideration but I've heard the Beyers can be quite fatiguing, not sure how true though.

My ears are somewhat small so they probably had a good seal    From what I'm hearing, the 449 doesn't even come close the bass on the 598s. I guess it could be to do with the sensitivity though, since the 598s just seem so much more 'full' sounding overall.

I have the HD598s now! They're pretty great :)   I don't know why people say they don't have much bass, they have quite a lot.

I think I will get the HD598s. Seems like a pretty good price. 

The only thing is will the HD598s be a big upgrade over my HD449s? Otherwise no point in upgrading...   I have read the HP200s are actually quite bright and fatiguing. 

I've heard that about Grados. I'm kind of put off by that though. My speakers are bit like that; quite punchy and aggressive, so I'd prefer something a bit more relaxed for headphones to have some contrast.
