    Aune S17 pro

Thanks for your reply, yes my reseller is now exchanging the open box item (which was reduced in price so I knew exactly what I was buying, but the volume control and the heating were too much to cope with! 😊) and a new unit is on its way to me.

    Aune S17 pro

So it seems in March still the heating situation hasn't been addressed in newer batches of the S17 Pro - is it a lottery per unit or is it a 'feature'? If its a feature of this product then I am presuming this just how it is, and perhaps a later product upgrade will fix it, but Aune have a 12-18...

    Aune S17 pro

Just to confirm, Adam at Eden has replied first thing this morning and gave me all the info on the open box silver S17 he has there. No heating issues his end but does have the volume jump so very impressed with his honesty - he mentioned if that was a problem they have stock without that issue...

    Aune S17 pro

Maybe it was a busy Saturday! The funny thing is I can’t find my sent email at all on the iPad, yet it is visible on my phone as having been sent… now I’m wondering if something went awry? Can I ask what email address you used please…

    Aune S17 pro

Well I wasn’t referring to Eden here, I only emailed Adam Saturday so there’s plenty of time for them to get back to me when work commences Monday I would have thought… I do hope they reply as they have a couple I stock! 😊

    Aune S17 pro

Yes it looks like they do, but the returns procedure and refunds are typical of non-European companies, with re-stocking fees in some cases, and of course theres the more expensive returns shipping. In the UK and EU (which the UK left despite nearly 50% of its population who bothered to vote...

    Aune S17 pro

It seems clear to me that i would rather buy from a dealer or distributor who wants me custom and is prepared to support their products, than another who is only a ‘fair weather friend‘. I suppose as more manufacturers go direct, so resellers are being pushed out of business, we want direct to...

    Aune S17 pro

That’s god news, I’ve emailed them and also mentioned issues, if they don’t reply it’s prob because these are old stock with the issues maybe and they are just selling them off. Everyone seems to be out of stock so perhaps a new version is coming?

    Aune S17 pro

Anyone know the best place to order the S17 Pro in the UK? I can see a couple of silly prices from Eden Audio on Google but I've never heard of them, I've sent an email asking why the low price. I can also see that Audiophonics in the EU is awaiting stock, also the official EU Aune store is also...

    Schiit Audio Bifrost 2

I too thought I would update the firmware to try out NOS mode, after an hour or so of long comparisons interspersed with short flipping back and forth I can safely say if there is a difference I can’t hear it. But that applies to any time I have messed with DAC filters ot NOS vs OS mode. In a...

    Schiit Audio Bifrost 2

Yes it’s that Navaris, there’s a lighter one - I have two and they stack lovely when there are more components! 😊 (only the RebelAmp was too wide to fit inside!)

    Schiit Audio Bifrost 2

Just in case anyone is interested, here’s my ‘trundle’ headfi trolly! It spends the morning in the bedroom, wanders into the office in the afternoon and sometimes keeps me company by the sofa late nights… 😊 Allo DigiOne naked round the back provides the Roon endpoint, when I eventually settle...

    Schiit Audio Bifrost 2

Actually, I’m still trialling the BF2 as after going back to my little Soncoz I noticed that although it was indeed seemingly immediately more resolving, the BF2 was doing something I wanted to get to know better. So I thought the best idea was to stop all this swapping backwards and forwards...

    Schiit Audio Bifrost 2

If you ever do want to try a Bifrost 2 OG I have one for sale shortly, I will happily pass it on for what it cost me… PM should you fancy a punt! 😊

    Schiit Audio Bifrost 2

I think I’m maybe now coming to the conclusion that all those, what I used to call boring and analytical well measuring Chinese DACs (based on one example years back) might be the way forward? One could argue if the source is at least pumping out ‘everything‘ then if we want to tweak our sound...

    Schiit Audio Bifrost 2

Just for anyone who might be into classical and might be thinking of running a Bifrost 2 with their planers... :) After much deliberation and help here I managed to secure a pre-owned Bifrost 2 to audition (seems like the only available Bifrost 2 in the UK?) and was really looking forward to...

    Schiit Audio Bifrost 2

Can I just interject here, someone once told me (like someone once told me to leave everything on) that when I was happy with the initial burn in process I should listen and confirm how things sounded, then I should switch off the DAC (Denafrips R2R I had just bought) over night, better still...

    Schiit Audio Bifrost 2

Yes I can certainly second that, not for every component I’ve ever had, but certainly the middle to upper end stuff. The last long burn in was for my Denafrips DAC, I really didn’t like it out of the box, a few hours later when I listened things were better, about 24 hours and a milestone seemed...

    Schiit Audio Bifrost 2

Thanks both! That makes a huge difference to my choice  I realise nuggets of perceived wisdom about things like this are handed down and often we haven’t even tried it ourselves (I’m guilty if that for sure!) so it’s great to receive some first hand experience.

    Schiit Audio Bifrost 2

Hello! Can I jump into your conversations please, I would love to pull the trigger on a BF2 but with ladder DAC’s in my speaker system I have always believed they need to be on all the time… and this cant happen with my headphone listening station. It is a bedside cabinet on wheels, with a rack...

    Rebel Amp

Hello all! I found this thread by scrolling through all the amplifier posts looking for anything that wasn’t Topping or SMSL or any other of those I am sure excellent products that measure miraculous and sound about as interesting as their specs! So you know where I am coming from, something a...

Introducing the HIFIMAN EF400 Balanced Desktop DAC/Amplifier!

Well in my case, compared to the stack the EF400 was going to replace which was a little Soncoz LA-QXD1 feeding an SPL Phonitor One, it was well punchy, lots and lots of bass. This was single ended 6.3 to HiFiMan Edition XS headphones. My problem with it was the lack of detail, I found it...

Introducing the HIFIMAN EF400 Balanced Desktop DAC/Amplifier!

Well thanks guys for all the info and personal experiences of the EF400 with my headphones especially, I've given the EF400 all afternoon yesterday and all last night playing away to itself and I must say... I'm sadly a bit underwhelmed! Now I've been using R2R DAC's in the main speaker system...

Introducing the HIFIMAN EF400 Balanced Desktop DAC/Amplifier!

Thanks yes I saw your posts - I don’t know why they make these amplifiers so loud, surely being able to properly drive a transducer is all about control not volume? Perhaps you can’t have one without the other? But you would have thought HiFiMan would have designed their amp for their...

Introducing the HIFIMAN EF400 Balanced Desktop DAC/Amplifier!

Thanks for the reply, that’s ok, at least if on the same headphones and amp you are getting to around 12 with 4.4 then I would be more than happy if that was the case my end… 👍
