I’ve had the same experience as just about everyone else. My HD 800 with the SDR mod are great with the A16, but any mid-tier ~$300 headphone I’ve not worked well for me.

Trust me, I get it. I would second some of the other opinions and say that I think the Omegas are the ones that I like most. I have I think four rooms I’ve purchased and that has been the one that has gotten the most use by for for me.

Have you tried any of the demos on his store? If not, I would start there. For me, the 3DSoundShop PRIRs are as close to sounding like an in person capture as possible, but of course that is going to vary for everyone depending on how similar your head geometry is compared to the subject in the...

I use it all the time with my PC, Xbox Series X, and PS5. Most games are encoded in either 5.1, 7.1, or Atmos nowadays so you usually get proper surround. It does work to upmix stereo to Auro3D which sounds pretty good. The only thing of note is that when using Atmos from a Windows PC or Xbox...

I do not currently have my A16 hooked up because I just went through moving this weekend and haven’t gotten around to messing with getting that all connected again, however I can tell you that on my LG CX it is showing that it is receiving an Atmos signal from my PS5 on the beta firmware.

A large percentage of my A16 use is for gaming, and a majority of my gaming is done on PC nowadays. The biggest issue with latency on PC I have found is if you're using Atmos (same goes for Xbox). There seems to be something with Microsoft's implementation that adds some noticeable audio latency...

I've had mine since they started shipping in summer 2019 (I think?) and I have loved owning it. The UX/UI is at times awful though. To me dealing with that pain is worth the end result, which is an an amazing surround sound experience through headphones. It does help to have the tight knit...

I'm not sure this will help and I'm not sure if the names of settings changed between the C9 and CX, but here are the settings I'm using: On the CX Dolby Atmos - On Digital Sound Out - Auto eARC - On SIMPLINK (HDMI-CEC) - On Auto Device Detection - Off Auto Power Sync - Off On the A16 HDMI CEC...

I don't normally use the internal apps, but since you asked, I tested out the Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power show on Amazon Prime on my CX using the internal app. I was able to send Atmos to the A16 without issue.

I wanted to give my thoughts on John's Omega PRIR. The tl;dr is that if his other PRIRs work for you, then you absolutely should give the Omega a go. To my ears, it is his best PRIR and that is saying something considering how great his previous ones have been. I have been messing with both the...

I will hopefully post some more detailed impressions later this weekend after I get more than a few hours of use, but the 65 and 96 are the two most amazing things I have used on my A16, and that is coming from someone who has the D&D. I think so far, upmixing to Auro3D, that I would say I...

Yeah being a Lions fan my entire life has been nothing but misery and hopelessness. Always fun to support a team that is in the running for the worst team in professional sports lol.

Ahh. That makes sense. I believe on of the A16 firmware updates changed that behavior. When it was first launched in beta I don’t believe you needed CEC enabled on the A16. Then I want to say firmware 2.10 which had a release note of “an improved eARC implementation” or something along those...

Not sure which LG TV you have or had, but on my CX it forces CEC on once you turn on ARC and eARC.

I will second this. More I/O is better than less I/O. I currently have something like 9 devices feeding sound to my A16. For me to get that all working is a combination of eARC, the HDMI 2.0 ports on the A16, and the HDMI in of my Oppo 203. If they haven’t added eARC I’d be in quite the bind as...

What sort of problem are you having? I don’t have a Sony tv, I have a LG CX but I did spend tons of time troubleshooting eARC issues when it first launched and again with 2.10 so I might be able to help.

So I got curious and I'm trying to pinpoint when this issue actually started for me. I found the post from myself that I quoted here from August 11th, 2021. According to the Smyth's website, firmware 2.00 released June 8th, 2021 and firmware 2.05 (the one needed for DTS) launched on October 20th...

I would probably need to dig up my original post here about my no sound issue to confirm if I’m right about the timing. I want to say that it may have been after installing the 2.00 firmware, but before doing the DTS upgrade.

I have had this problem for quite a long time, I’ve sort of lost track of time but I’m pretty sure on my A16 it started well before the DTS upgrade. I have done plenty of factory resets and It isn’t fixed. I did send a video to James showing the issue as well. I still always have to do the dance...

To answer the question about getting Auro 3D to play in am Atmos room, my assumption is if you go to “Listening Rooms” in the A16 menu and set the “Loading” setting to “Only Atmos” then it should only use the Atmos room of any of your presets regardless of the decoder it’s using.

I paid for the Auro 3D upgrade and received the permissions file from James this morning to perform the upgrade. Do I follow the same instructions that I used for the DTS upgrade? James didn't send any instructions and has not responded to my question about how to actually perform the upgrade.

Apologies if I missed you mentioning it somewhere, but I assume you've tried manually installing the A16 Windows USB driver that is available from the A16 downloads page? I don't have mine connected via USB so I'm not sure how buggy they are and they don't appear to have been updated since...
