Headphone Upgrade (From ATH-AD900)
I'm by no means an expert on these things... I have RCA stereo running from the sound card to the magni. I connect the headphones via stereo plug adapter to the front of the magni. Source is an Xfi titanium HD.- Shisno

Headphone Upgrade (From ATH-AD900)
Currently on a Magni amp. Does anyone have any opinions on my next headphone set? Positional audio is a top concern, along with quality. Looking for a set that costs under $300. Also, should I be looking to for an amp, or should I stick with my current amp? Thank you for any answers...- Shisno

Amps, and DAC?
Ok, firstly... what is DAC? What does it actually do? Next, would I be best served with the O2 amp as suggested. Or, should I consider something like Asus` Xonad DAC+Amp. Just want to be 100% sure before I pull the trigger in a month's time.- Shisno

The Nameless Guide To PC Gaming Audio (with binaural headphone surround sound)
Quote: The root of the problem is the ****eads all buying "Call of dookie MCMLXXIV", quality no longer matters in games. The idiot sheep children will obediently march off to gamestop the second the next serving of dribble is meted out by their EA/Activision overlords... and they'll ask...- Shisno

(Advice needed) New gaming sound setup.
I still cannot for the life of me figure out why ATI hasn't made a real and concerted effort to improve their drivers and launch their own version of "The Way It's Meant To Be Played". Over the last 5-6 years, Nvidia has very rarely eclipsed ATI in a hardware aspect... but, once you figure in...- Shisno

(Advice needed) New gaming sound setup.
AMD has been severely inferior since the intel response after the XP/FX lineup was released. That, and MAYBE certain K6 2's are the only processors ever to eclipse the Intel might. I used to be an AMD fanboy (4 consecutive builds, great price:performance on a budget). However, I feel their...- Shisno

(Advice needed) New gaming sound setup.
Yeah, after hearing how bad the AD's are for immersion and music, a second set is definitely in the works. I work IT by trade. I'm pretty set on a bleeding edge build (first time ever... I'm usually the frugal person with a sub $1000 build). This time, I've got a lot more money to work...- Shisno

(Advice needed) New gaming sound setup.
The $3,000 is a rough target that is flexible for the machine. But, after much advice from Roller and others, I'm tentatively decided upon the following: HP's: AD700 Amp: O2 Soundcard: Titanium HD If you have other ideas, I'd love to hear about them.- Shisno

Speaking solely on positional audio, does the AD700 beat the ATH-M50?- Shisno

The Nameless Guide To PC Gaming Audio (with binaural headphone surround sound)
Ok, I guess my internal debate about AMP(O2) and HP's (AD700) is settled. Now, for sound card... I'm down to two choices (feel free to suggest another card, if it's better for gaming): Titanium HD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829102033 Sound Blaster...- Shisno

Yeah, I have to agree about the Pro's. I own a set now, and they did "OK" with positional audio. However, the durability on this set was absolute crap. The microphone stopped working after 3 months, and now (roughly 14 months later), the wiring is separating from the in-line control module...- Shisno

The Nameless Guide To PC Gaming Audio (with binaural headphone surround sound)
Ok, so... after browsing here for the last few days, I'm left with a huge question... Why would a set like the AD700's (one jack) provide a better positional audio experience than a set like Psyko Carbon (3 dedicated jacks, which include its own amp). I have a thread...- Shisno

Hey, MLE... any chance you've been able to test the Psyko Audio Carbon? I know sound quality isn't that great, but I'm looking for the absolute best positional audio headset I can find (for gaming). Any thoughts or, info you might have would be awesome. I've also started a thread asking for...- Shisno

(ADVICE)New gaming sound setup from the ground-up
The one thing I am really confused about is why a set like the AD700's would have better directional audio than something with dedicated connectors to 3 audio channels (front, rear, sides). I really want to get my sound 100% correct this time around. example...- Shisno

(Advice needed) New gaming sound setup.
Ok, so I'm planning to build a new system come tax time this year... I've basically got a blank check between a $5000 return and some savings. So, I'm planning to spend about $3,000 on a new machine. So, I need advice on an entire high-end sound setup. The MOST important thing to me is...- Shisno
