Currently on a Magni amp.

Does anyone have any opinions on my next headphone set?  Positional audio is a top concern, along with quality.  Looking for a set that costs under $300.  Also, should I be looking to for an amp, or should I stick with my current amp?

Thank you for any answers you can provide.

(EDIT: removed 'pre' from amp... my mistake)

The Schiit Magni is a headphone amplifer, not sure why your referring to it as the Magni pre-amp?
Are you connecting the ATH-AD900 to the pre-amp (RCA) output on the Magni?
What sources or DAC are you connecting the Magni to?

I'm by no means an expert on these things...

I have RCA stereo running from the sound card to the magni.
I connect the headphones via stereo plug adapter to the front of the magni.
Source is an Xfi titanium HD.

So PC > Titanium HD > Magni > headphones.
Using the Titanium-HD as a DAC, then connected (RCA to RCA) to an external headphone amplifier is something I consider a good setup.
