Norne Audio (Was: Norse Audio): Feedback & Impression Thread

Does anyone know if everything is copacetic at Norne? My cable was expected to ship a week ago, and my last 2 emails have received no response from Trevor. Guess I'm hoping he's too busy, but it is coming up on 5 weeks since I ordered. Patience is a virtue I suppose...

NOBLE Savant Thread (Impressions, Reviews, Tours)

Just have to pass along a big Thanks to Noble. I've only had the Savant for a couple days, and these were purchased based solely on reviews and faith and hope. My very good Westone W30 gave their last, and it was time to upgrade. And a remarkable upgrade it is. My experiences mirror many of the...

    Hifiman HE1000 Planar Dynamic Headphone

I must admit to being taken back a bit by the price tag for Hifiman's latest model. Mostly because they have a reputation for producing great headphones that almost outperform their price points. Fang must be very confident that the HE1000 can compete with the best. But in addition to R and D...

Definitely sounds like it's worth picking up a pair of the new pads, just to try them. Thanks

Maybe it's too early...are the new pads an upgrade from Jergpads- a side grade? An essential purchase for 500 owners who already have Jergpads? Thanks for any insights.

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.

Heard great things about Mjolnir. Wish my aftermarket cable was balanced...Ragnarok seems intriguing, not sure when it'll be released though. A lot of great ideas here, some interesting ideas to explore further. Just read about the Auralic Taurus MKII...wish I could afford it- seems like a beauty.

My best bet...wish I knew. Whenever the upgrade bug bites me, I feel like a nomad wandering the desert, hoping to stumble upon great sounding gear. And now starting to wonder if the HE560 would be more worthwhile than a new amp...Sure do love the HE500's though. A new amp vs the HE560...My...

Is there really such a thing as not end game quality? For many, the Lyr is end game, and so is the HE500. If a person desires no more than Beats, then this is end game quality for them. And on and on with regards to diminishing returns and expensive headphones.

So far, considering these 4 amps for the HE500: Vioelectric V200 Audio-GD SA-31e Project Ember Burson Soloist Or just be happy with the Lyr. The Lyr is great, but I consider the HE500's to be end game quality, and am not convinced the Lyr is an end game amp. Then again, not sure if all the above...

Hifiman HE-400i and HE-560: From CES to Pre-Launch

Curious to know, when paired with the HE500, which amp do you prefer over the Lyr? This combo is my current rig, but am interested in potentially upgrading the Lyr. Thanks for any insights.

Happy with the Lyr for now, though wondering what's a great SS Amp (not balanced) for the HE500 for $1000 or less. Thanks for any insights.

There are times when I'm watching TV with headphones, and sounds seem to come from across the room- or atleast external to the headphones. We've probably all had a similar experience- it's kind of eerie though the first couple of times it happens.

Perhaps best to visit the Jergpad thread, where the design of the pads on the new HFM series are born from.

    Schiit Lyr Tube Rollers

It almost sounds like you'd like a neutral, detailed tube- one that presents music closely accurate to the recording. How much you're comfortable spending is something to consider. Telefunken are known for their neutrality and detail. Many Amperex are detailed and quite far from boring, but the...

Sorry to hear of your recent disappointing experiences. Mercedesman will hopefully fix this issue. Many here, myself included, can testify that he is a great guy to deal with and is very honest. It seems likely there's a good reason you haven't heard back from him yet. Hopefully you will have a...

There's the Quickie- and if storing these two amps topside- that would be SEX on Crack. Got to hand it to Bottlehead, they name their equipment, well, provactively. Please forgive, couldn't resist the temptation :p

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.

Seems from this reasoning the Emotiva is the trap, not the HE500. Guessing the Emotiva doesn't pair well with the HE6, or any of the Audeze. Perhaps an amp that is more suitable for headphones than only the HE500 would solve this future upgrade scenario.

    Schiit Lyr Tube Rollers

Back on the Amperex train with the HE500's. The Ediswan (Brimar) are great, but there's no wow factor. I've realized if tubes don't have a wow factor, then keep rolling. The Amperex are near perfect- beautiful clarity, deep and impactful bass- just wish the soundstage is a bit wider. Not ready...

Probably only stating the obvious, though ensure the cables connected to the headphone are screwed in securely. Also maybe plug in a different pair of headphones into the Lyr and see if the problem is replicated. Would be helpful to know if the HE500 works properly out of other equipment besides...
