Sony MDR-V6 Counterfeit comparison thread w/ Pics

The counterfeit headphones sound like crap, anyone who is in the least knowledgeable can tell the difference. It isn't a close call.

    iTunes Quality

I will agree with 128. and that is unlistenable for classical music, at least for me.

I have stopped using headphones, switched to Speakers and Sub-woofer.

I don't want to sound patronizing but I am guessing that many of you have never heard an upscale speaker and subwoofer system. There is no way headphones can touch a good speaker system, it is just physically impossible.

I have stopped using headphones, switched to Speakers and Sub-woofer.

I am listening to classical music on my floor standing speakers and subwoofer, and it sounds like a concert. Listening to the same music on headphones doesn't sound like a concert, maybe more like a small studio session if that. You never forget you are listening to headphones. I actually put...

I have stopped using headphones, switched to Speakers and Sub-woofer.

I am now back to using my headphones. There is a time and place for headphones, they certainly give you a different take on your most popular music. And while headphones have a somewhat artificial sound, they also help you pick out subtleties that you can't get from speakers. Plus you can play...

Who cares about so-called "transparency" in sound recording? I am looking for sound equipment that can duplicate the original performance. Go to a concert and you wills e that they use speakers to project the sound in rock concerts and even in classical and jazz music.

By your standard, what headphones sound ideal or close to ideal? When you start paying over $1000 for a pair of headphones , there better be a good reason, with superb bass.

Keep adding $10 to the price until you stop feeling bad.

I have stopped using headphones, switched to Speakers and Sub-woofer.

I have a $700 2.1 Stereo system that sounds better than any headphone out there. It is physically impossible for headphones to create the same bass sounds as a quality stereo system with a subwoofer. It is simple physics. I can understand using headphones when you have to. When you don't want...

It really sounds like you have never owned a subwoofer. You would know that the location of the subwoofer is up to you . . you can move it wherever it gives you the most satisfactory result. Also , a subwoofer has a volume control. . you can turn it down to next to nothing or up to the max so...

You are just missing anything under 50 hz. lol I was surprised about the low range of the harp. If you want to do a quick test of your system, demo some harp music. It can be very difficult to record because there is no place to "hide" distortion anywhere in the mix.

Floor-standing speakers tend to have 6 or 7 inch subwoofers. . That just can't compete with a 12 inch sub . . physically impossible. And how do we expect head-phones to have that kind of bass response?
