Noontec Zoro
If the Zoros trump the M80s in any way, it'd be that the midrange is smoother and slightly less grainy on the Zoros. Bass extension also seemed better to my ears. They aren't basshead cans by any stretch, but they have a good amount of weight when called for.- Crow T Robot

Noontec Zoro
I've had both the Zoros and the M80s, and ended up selling the latter. The m80s have a very forward midrange and a sort of "in your face" sound, while the Zoros have a surprisingly neutral signature with decent bass and good mids. They do have a weird roll off in the treble that makes certain...- Crow T Robot

That's a tempting deal. I briefly had a pair of the on-ear Wireless Rhythms, and they sounded pretty decent for bluetooth cans. Select Bose Headphones 10% off at Crutchfield.- Crow T Robot

CAD Audio The Seassions Headphones
Anybody heard these? I like the look of the orange and black ones, but I'm leery of spending seventy bucks on a set of headphones just because I like they way they look.- Crow T Robot

M-Audio Studiophile Q40 - Review, and Appreciation
Snagged a pair of these from Amazon Warehouse Deals when they were 70 bucks "like new", and grabbed a pair of Beyerdynamic velour pads while I was at it. Holy crap. I was expecting these would be a sloppy, bassy guilty pleasure like my Vmoda LPs, but I've been listening to various music...- Crow T Robot

For anybody else that bought a saucepan from Rakuten thinking it was a pair of Phiaton MS400, I just got an email from Wayfair (the marketplace seller) telling me they're issuing a full refund, and that I can keep the pan.- Crow T Robot

I think the model numbers just refer to the colors GY is gray and BK is black. I've never heard the Uptowns, but if they're anything like the Downtowns, I can't imagine they're very good. The Downtowns just sound thin to me.- Crow T Robot

Anyone had a chance to compare the Phiaton MS400 and Logitech UE6000? I've finally narrowed down my search to these two, and I'm leaning toward the Phiatons because they can be had cheaper, and look quite a bit better. The UE do have a detachable cable, which is a plus, and I got a chance...- Crow T Robot

DAC with variable output under $300?
How is the headphone out? My eventual goal is to get a more demanding set of cans for my desktop (HD650, Q701, or the like), and I know I shouldn't expect miracles for $90 but I figure I'd ask. Thanks for responding to all my questions.- Crow T Robot

DAC with variable output under $300?
Is it possible to switch between inputs with the Fire Phoenix? I'll be hooking up a PC and PS3, and I've gotten used to the ability to switch between them with my Topping. If not, my current first choice is the Maverick Audio Tubemagic D1, since it has an input selector and apparently also...- Crow T Robot

DAC with variable output under $300?
So after much debating over passive or powered speakers for my desktop, I heard a pair of Emotiva Airmotiv4 and fell in love. The only minor annoyance is that both speakers have individual volume controls, and adjusting the volume generally involves several minutes worth of tweaking each knob to...- Crow T Robot

Quote: Ultrasone PRO-750 have velour earpads and are very detailed, even at low volumes. They also have very controlled bass, punchy and tight without encroaching on the mids and higs. Mids are slightly recessed, and the treble can be a little spiky depending on your source, but they...- Crow T Robot

Still looking for a portable pair for my commute. They need to fold up to fit in my bag, and preferably have a detachable cable. I'll be running them unamped from my phone. I mostly listen to indie rock, with some electronic pop and acoustic stuff thrown in. I listened to a pair of Logitech...- Crow T Robot

I've been using a pair of Noontec Zoros for my daily commute for about a year, and -while I like their overall sound signature- they don't provide much in the way of isolation, and they're constantly falling off my head when I move. Consequently, I've been looking for a decent, durable pair of...- Crow T Robot

Passive Bookshelves For Desk System Under $400
The Wharfedales are a little cheaper with free shipping, but mostly I just love they way they look. I know that's a terrible reason to buy a speaker, but they are certainly pretty. I think I'm going to go for the Ascends, though. Everything I've read about them makes them sound perfect for me...- Crow T Robot

Passive Bookshelves For Desk System Under $400
So my Teac won't be able to drive the Wharfedales at decent levels for nearfield listening? I guess my decision is down to the Ascends vs the Arx A1b. Leaning heavily toward the Ascends. If anyone else has any suggestions, I'd greatly appreciate them.- Crow T Robot
