How to make Sennheiser HD 555 passive noise damping headphones?
I'd say sell them and buy a pair of closed headphones. ...But then again; I've been told I have a pessimistic attitude. ;)- steinba

Power supplies for Squeezebox and USB D/A converter?
I ordered three σ11 boards and the parts AMB has for it in his webshop. Looks good for this application, I think. Now to figure out what transformers, enclosures and other small parts I need.- steinba

Power supplies for Squeezebox and USB D/A converter?
I have a Squeezebox Touch and two Abrahamsen A-dac usb D/A converters that I'd like to build decent power supplies for. Just as an experiment to see if they'll sound better. (...And just because it's fun, of course.) The D/A converters have 24V DC 0.5A wall warts, and the Squeezebox has a 5V...- steinba

Delivery times from Par-Metal?
Thanks. I'll just wait a bit longer, then. Shame, really. How hard is it really to answer to an e-mail?- steinba

Delivery times from Par-Metal?
I ordered two series 20 cases from Par-Metal a couple of weeks ago, got the paypal bill in my e-mail, paid it and haven't heard a thing from them since. I've tried getting hold of them by e-mail, but without success. I searched the forums and got the impression that this is "normal". I'm in...- steinba

Yes, it's very good. Too bad the CD doesn't exactly sound good. Another casualty in the Loudness War. -
What wallwart for TREAD/Pimeta

What wallwart for TREAD/Pimeta
I'm putting together a "laptop sound survival box" consisting of a Tread, a pimeta and a Bantam dac. I'm going to pick up a wallwart/psu for it. Would something like this be OK? Clas Ohlson - Batterieliminator, batterieliminatorer (Sorry about the norwegian) It claims to output max...- steinba

Pimeta question. (CRD?)
I've populated a Pimeta V 1.1 board, and I'm wondering about two (optional) diodes in the parts list called "CRD" (Current regulating diode) and "Current source configuration; CRD". What are these supposed to do, and where do they go? I'm running this off a Tread and a 24V wallwart. The...- steinba

PPA v2 construction discussion
The ground strap worked like a charm. Dead quiet now. Thanks. I guess I should have RTFM first. I've tried the Tarja Turunen CD again too, and I have determined that everything but electric bass sounds fine from it, but the bass is bloated and distorted on every track. The producer's choice...- steinba

I couldn't wait for the case, so I soldered the PPAv2, STEPS and crossfeed boards together on the table, hooked up my CD Player and HD-650s and got out a few CD's. I first played Tarja Turunen's solo album, which has a passage I really like where the soundstage is really full of loud...- steinba
