    Anyone heard the RudiStor XJ-03?

I got it from Rudi - it could well have been the last one he sold. It's 750 grams, 120 x 75 x 50 mm and battery powered. And it was 990 euros. (I think)

Is the A3's SQ as good as the X5's?

That's good to know. At least Cowon are still building a product with the same sound. New X5s are very rare on ebay these days - I have sometimes wondered whether I should buy a spare, but if the A3 does the job I could live with it.

Is the A3's SQ as good as the X5's?

Now and again I have a nightmare that my 60 gig X5 has been stolen. What on earth would I replace it with? The X5 has a sound I love, and the remote is very useful. Plus there's no need to bother with a 3rd party box of tricks to overcome the deficiencies of the jack socket. It's nice and small...

Leaving portable hifi - it's too silly

Am I the 'He who won't be back?' I'd love to be back but I've been working like a dog today and now it's 20 after midnight and time to sleep. Maybe catch you all tomorrow. I'm enjoying this thread - it really makes you think.

Leaving portable hifi - it's too silly

OK, I will, but I have to work now. It's 11.30 am here.

    Anyone heard the RudiStor XJ-03?

Rudi sold so few (only 18 in the first two years) that he decided to withdraw it and launch a smaller product. He was a bit disappointed because miniaturisation=compromise, but the market gets what the market wants.

Leaving portable hifi - it's too silly

The OP is presumably accurate in saying he doesn't like his rig. I haven't heard it. But I love mine. He hasn't heard that. All the rest is just words.

Leaving portable hifi - it's too silly

Ok, here are UK prices for my amp and IEMs, and the current dollar conversion: RudiStor NKK-01se: 990 euros, or $1290 ACS T2: £499, or $827. (Bear in mind that the British Pound is on the floor right now. It wasn't long ago that £499 was $1000.) I'm not really sure why the OP's headphones...

Leaving portable hifi - it's too silly

Really? I'm surprised. Can you give me a price breakdown? I'm in London so there will be quite a few price differences.

Leaving portable hifi - it's too silly

Such a sad thread! Guys, don't give up - spend MORE, MUCH MORE, seriously. My rig cost a fortune: RudiStor NKK01se + ACS T2 + iRiver X5 = don't add it up. $2500? I really don't want to know. But it's well worth it because it gives me as much pleasure (and as much detail from the music) as my...

    T2 IEMs

I've got some. I compared them with the Grado GS-1000 just to see if they could get anywhere near what I think are the best headphones ever. And they blew them away! I was gobsmacked. £499 well spent.

    Anyone heard the RudiStor XJ-03?

Got a new NKK-01se and I haven't heard it yet! I really hope the XJ-03 isn't better. Rudi promised me it wouldn't be - hope he wasn't fibbing.

Srsly good interconnect for my RudiStor?

Got a Rudistor NKK-01se to go with my X5 and ACS T2s. But I have no interconnect! I tried some Crystal ones and settled on the Standard which did actually make a discernible difference. But at 126 euros it's a bit spenny! Have any of you enthusiasts ever reviewed this interconnect against...

Is the NKK-01se better than the Voyager?

No. I have to have a portable one.

Is the NKK-01se better than the Voyager?

Yup, I bought it. Once I'd started using the borrowed one, I always knew I was cheating myself of some of the music whenever I didn't plug it in. For me, that's a very good reason to spend £750.

Is the NKK-01se better than the Voyager?

<bump> OK, I'm going to buy it in ten minutes if nobody stops me!
  17. Nick H.

Is the NKK-01se better than the Voyager?

I suppose it ought to be because it's much bigger and costs more than four times as much. I'm on the brink of ordering one to use with an X5 and T2s. I borrowed one last year so I know what it will sound like. But it troubles me that I haven't heard the Voyager. Is it safe to assume that the...

Lisa III or NKK-01se? Or what?

If we compare the batteries and weights, the NKK-01se only comes in one version, with 1800mA batteries with a minimum playing time of 16 hours. It weighs 750g or 1lb 10 oz inc. charger. The Lisa III comes in 3 versions with different batteries. The lightest has 150 MAh batteries which last 7...

Lisa III or NKK-01se? Or what?

<bump> Perhaps nobody's listened to both? I think Rudi told me he'd only sold 18 of the NKK-01se, so maybe that's not surprising.

Got any tips for a new X5 user?

Many thanks. I'd like to try Rockbox to see if I can tell the difference but I read that it voids the warranty. There's a right angle jack on the T2s and I hope to buy a remote control so I can ease up on the joystick. There are a couple of US on-line stores which claim to have them...

Got any tips for a new X5 user?

Thanks. Basic question: (I did say I wasn't a geek) - if I buy an amp are you saying I should connect it to the headphone socket? If so, what's the Line Out socket for anyway?

Got any tips for a new X5 user?

So. Got a 60 gig X5 and some ACS T2s! Gonna fill the X5 with FLACs and go travelling. I'm not terribly geeky, but I'm an SQ fanatic. Any tips on how to get the best out of it? Should I tweak it somehow? Should I buy JetAudio Plus? Is the remote control worth having? Have done a search but...

Lisa III or NKK-01se? Or what?

I borrowed the NKK-01se for a month and thought I'd died and gone to heaven. I was using it with ACS T2s, an X5 and a Crystal cable. To be frank the NKK-01se was worth the money - just. I had to give it back but soon I will be able to afford one. So....what about the Lisa III? How does it...

Best portable amps needed for magazine review

Hi everyone, been enjoying all your replies! Been a bit busy with other work, mainly looking into a new service to store your immune system. I'm a "general features writer", not a specialist in anything. But I am a genuine PMP enthusiast, still mourning my stolen Xclef and E-5Cs. Hope to have...

Best portable amps needed for magazine review

Pardon me for cross-posting but as you'll see from my post in the phones and IEMs forum I need a shortlist of great, new(ish), money-no-object portable amps for a magazine review. They must be battery powered for travel use. Here's my post: http://www.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=229908...
