Where to get real HiRes downloads !?
Thank you for sharing useful insights. Over the past few days I have downloaded my first few hires albums from HD Tracks. I find quality very good although in comparison to my best cd's, difficult to observe a distinct quality difference. I will continue search for new interesting hires for a...- Staxi

Where to get real HiRes downloads !?
What is the take on the HiRes provider Acoustic Sounds? Are they generally offering HiRes directly from master tracks or is much of the material they offer pure upsampling from 44/16 ? Are there any good suggestions as to solid HiRes providers of popular pop/rock music?- Staxi

The Stax Thread III
Anybody tried the 009s with the original T2 combo? If so how to describe the experience in comparison with the 009s using other top amps such as kgsshv, bhse. Reason for asking is that after a long wait it is now possible to acquire a fine looking T2 combo on eBay.- Staxi

Sillysally - for now I am using the O2 mk1 but planning to get the 009s this summer. Are you saying that that 727 without mod is ok with them (the 009s)!?- Staxi

Stax 007 mk-1
Thx Amarphael, excellent tips! On that basis I think it is time to get hold of the 727 to replace my t1 which surely is creating some bass trouble for my O2s. Seems no amount of source upgrades is able take care of that...- Staxi

Stax 007 mk-1
Spritzer, I'm having the hardest time locating a good quality 717! Now found instead (on head-fi) an almost new 727 with 117 voltage. A couple of questions: 1) can all such units be relatively easily converted to 220/230v? 2) is there a link to a good exact description of the "spitzer 727 mod"...- Staxi

If you wish to stay with a Stax amp for the O2s, clear from lots of comments that either the 717 or the modded 727 are the best choices (save the holy T2). Not sure that I have seen any suggestion on which (the 717 or modded727) would be the preferred and why. Any volunteers..?- Staxi

The Stax srm-717 / O2 combo
Mossback - thank and source is Cyrus cd8x through a Cyrus DAC-XP. No need for cable length in excess of 1m and thus understand that recommendation is for RCA. Brgds- Staxi

Spritzer - now actually have two question to the modification you propose: 1) are you taking about modification of the SRM T1 or a 007ta? 2) to replace the 6CG7 tubes with either ECC99's or 6S4A's, what exact description do you give to the hifi repair shop. Talked to the alleged local...- Staxi

N3rdling, thanks for the advice but would prefer stay with tube over solid state. If the t1 is almost as good as the 007ta, where does the srm-006t fit into the equation? Brgds- Staxi
