    Master & Dynamic MW60 - Worth it?

I'm in the market for a portable pair of headphones. I have a preference for the Sennheiser sound, liking the HD598's I've gotten years back. But after trying and returning the Sennheiser PXC-550 due to slight but noticable sibilance (headache-inducing), I've been on the lookout for something...

This may have been asked already, but how do they size up against the Noontec Zoro?

Slight bump. Hoping someone has/tried out the Halo2 set to comment on them.

Jabra Halo2 Portable headphones. How do they compare to the traditional choices?

Hey there Head-Fi!   I'm looking for something portable to play on my Galaxy SII around or below the 70 euro mark (Netherlands). I already own a pair of Sennheiser HD598's on my PC, so it will only be used on my phone. I listen to a wide variety of music, From Rock/Pop/Club to the occasional...

    Senn HD598 + what amp?

The E7/E9 is a nice combo. If you're looking to save a few bucks with equal performance, get the E10 AMP/DAC. Only con is that it's not really portable, but that shouldn't be an issue really.   Also...

Community help requested. Underlying hiss/static noise in right ear cup

Thanks for taking them time to reply.   I've been able to do that, yes. The result is that all 3 headphones (Logitech Clearchat, HD201, HD598) have the same similar distortion at the same points, most noticably with instrumental/orchestral songs. That's why I came up with asking Head-fi for...

That's exactly my problem. If I had any other source I wouldn't have asked Head-fi. My only other "source" is my phone, which has a silly flat USB port that doesn't fit anything.

Community help requested. Underlying hiss/static noise in right ear cup

I've messaged Sennheiser about this issue. Them having experience with audio might know what may be causing this. In the mean time, I would very much appreciate some community help with the following to eliminate possible causes. It will only take a minute or two of your time, but massively help...

Community help requested. Underlying hiss/static noise in right ear cup

I've pinpointed that boosting the 12Khz frequency to max makes the interference most noticable.   If no one here has any idea, could anyone please point me to a place where I could troubleshoot this further? I've paid over 400 dollars to get this setup, and I'm very pleased with it. But this...

Community help requested. Underlying hiss/static noise in right ear cup

So, the FiiO came in today. Plugged it in using the USB provided Nice thing by the way.   Good news: No more high pitch noise in the lower frequencies. Bad news: I'm now having some kind of hiss in the right ear cup, most noticably when playing orchestral music. As if the sound reaches...

Sennheiser HD598 for Christmas...not impressed yet.

Quote: Just wanted to note that I had the 595's and currently own the 598's. I can assure you they're not the same, as they have both different drivers and a different internal housing. The 598 is a step up (or two) in basically everything that the 595's did, including bass.

Community help requested. Underlying hiss/static noise in right ear cup

Alright. The problem has now progressed further, but in a different way. Some songs play completely fine (Pop/vocal), whilst others (Orchestral) are starting to having slight, various distortions. Mostly at complicated or demanding parts of the song. Nothing loud or anything, but it's just...

Community help requested. Underlying hiss/static noise in right ear cup

Quote: I'll make sure it's not just me, as the FiiO bypasses it all. Should it be eliminated, which I expect it to be, I'll mail them about the issue for what it's worth. Anyone else have some further insight into this? Google has exactly zero accurate results to this problem.

Quote: Well, I've ordered the FiiO E10 today, so we'll know more tomorrow if no obvious answer comes up. Still, why did it start only today and not earlier?

Community help requested. Underlying hiss/static noise in right ear cup

EDIT: Thread repurposed, see post 10 for latest info.   After updating my audio drivers today (VIA onboard), I've noticed a high pitch sound when reaching the 20-100 frequency with my HD598's. It's not loud, but it's noticable and it's from both the left and right side. I've tested both with...

    Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread

The cracking issue has been fixed since July 2011. If you're unlucky enough to have one because the stock was from before then, you'll get it replaced under warranty if it starts cracking, without question.

    Sennheiser HD-598 Amp necessary?

Sorry to bump this up a bit, but I've got the same question as the OP. The only difference here is that I don't have any dedicated sound card. Period. I'm really looking to go sub 100 dollars (unless something that's very good bang for buck comes along) and I'm currently looking at the FiiO E10...

    Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread

Quote: It's like the 595 vs 598. The E10 is just that bit better in everything than the E7. the E7 is portable though.   Does anyone else want to chime in on the E10 or Dedicated soundcard against an onboard setup?

    Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread

On the topic of making the HD598 sound even better, I'm currently powering it completely from stock (HD598 > Onboard sound card). Would I benefit more from the E10 or a dedicated sound card?

Robustness of HD598 only thing keeping me from purchasing. Need advice from users.

Unfortunately not. I've only got experience the with Senns and the ATH-M50 (returning those), and I don't want to unintentionally give out mis-informed advice.   The only thing I can say is that closed headphones do isolate better amongst other thing, at the cost of losing the open-aired...

Best 'neutral' headphone that's easily driven out of an iPod or Clip

Unfortunately, the M50's suffer from reccessed mids. Compared to the 595's, they felt flat with no depth and uninteresting in my opinion. It's the main reason I've returned them as it was quite noticable.
