CHIFI LOVE Thread-A never ending IEM-Heaphones-DAP-Dongles Sound Value Quest
Source will mainly be a xiaomi redmi note 2, as well as some pc use maybe I remember reading a post not far back about certain chinese iems pairing well with a different, but somewhat similar, chinese phone foam tips would be good given my eustachian tube problems but does the VJJB K2s...- DeathDomokun

One of my biggest issues with iem's is either having bloated/amped up bass or simply lacking and feeling very thin.. anyone know examples in between these ranges?- DeathDomokun

CHIFI LOVE Thread-A never ending IEM-Heaphones-DAP-Dongles Sound Value Quest
I'm looking at getting some cheap iems, thinking around $20 but don't mind going over a bit if it's a considerable jump up in SQ Was looking at the shozy zero for example, but isolation is important to me as I will be using them in louder environments, so it can't be overly open I don't care...- DeathDomokun

Do you know the compliance? 4g cart in a 12g arm? I would rather not get a red ed. I have listened to a few needle drops on youtube for comparison and I'm not sure what I should be looking at. I like detail but it is not a high priority of mine. I have looked at some popular ortofons...- DeathDomokun

Anyone got any suggestions on a good entry stylus/cartridge? I don't want to put an emphasis on any one group, but I really don't want slow/sloppy and muddied lows. I'm not too fussy about the mids so long as it doesn't sound unnatural. I like detailed highs, I dislike the laidback sennheiser...- DeathDomokun

First mid-fi headphone
I have heard the HE-400s are easier to drive but are quite V shaped If I go by this I see the vali isn't significantly more powerful than the o2. If they can both drive the HE-4 to = SPL, then both amps are putting the exact same voltage, power, and current through the headphones. The only...- DeathDomokun

Can the O2 drive a HE-4 (not HE-400) well? I have read it will struggle, but it doesn't add up to me.. I'm also considering the DT880, which I feel the O2 will be great with.. I have more research to do- DeathDomokun

First mid-fi headphone
I'm tossing up between the HD600 and the HE-400 at this stage. It's hard, because I can't say I'm mainly worried about lows or highs or mids, but I know how to appreciate the lows/highs more than mids. I'm not a basshead, but I need good bass. Not overpowering bass, I like decent...- DeathDomokun

First mid-fi headphone
Appreciate your input man, has given me a bit to think about. I have some T50RPs that I badly modded and one of the speaker wires disconnected, I haven't been bothered reconnecting it. HE-500 is more than I want to spend. My main headphones are sennheiser 448? There was tape over three...- DeathDomokun

First mid-fi headphone
I was thinking about the HD600/650. The impression I've got from other peoples impressions' is that the HD600 is fairly even (if lacking in bass), and a reference headphone most people seem to go to, whereas the 650 is a tad warmer? I've heard good things about the DT880 (600ohm) but I've...- DeathDomokun

First mid-fi headphone
I thought there was a headphone rec sticky? oh well Alright guys, so I'm in the market for some headphones. I'm not quite sure what I'm looking for in a headphone: I don't care for the soundstage all that much. I like natural highs; I don't want them boring nor pronounced. I don't it...- DeathDomokun

Well, looking at the project and rega models (the orbit does not ship worldwide..) compared to older gear. I haven't heard anything, but I would think newer gear would be better than older gear. Even if I just go by wiring and electronics, if nothing else.. Can I do better than an entry...- DeathDomokun

O2 as preamp
Appreciate the reply mate, very clear. With that in mind, can I use an RCA to 3.5 from a TT directly into the O2, or do I need to go TT>phono preamp>RCA to 3.5 into O2>headphones? I'm assuming a pre-amp is needed. Thanks again :)- DeathDomokun

O2 as preamp
Hey guys, I'm thinking of getting into vinyl. From my understanding, I'm going to need to go through a phono preamp into a headphone amp. With this in mind, does going from RCA output (preamp) into a 3.5 jack (amp) degrade/lose any of the source? I started this thread with the intention of...- DeathDomokun

The only reason I can justify doing this is if you're going to do something like wje. If you're just doing 3.5/3.5 I wouldn't bother with that.- DeathDomokun

I don't think the angled plug will fit. I just tried one of those 90 degree plugs (not neutrik) and the plastic above the plug had a larger girth than the hole. The v-moda cord works wonderfully, and it's only $10 USD+postage (only $5 postage for me)- DeathDomokun

Well I opened up my T50RP's again and the white wire attached to the driver came off and I don't own a solder. I was going to ask if anyone knew how to remove sound deadener and that really sticky blue tack stuff but that doesn't seem to matter at the moment any more..- DeathDomokun

I've been neglecting this thread lately, just had a quick wonder through some of the pages I missed, still plenty I haven't read. I forgot my T50RP had cotton in one side. I can't remember if the other side had cotton, I haven't bothered opening it. Ever since bending in the rods I've been...- DeathDomokun
