Laptop to Receiver = Terrible Sound. What up?
I have the laptop volume up to about half, but on the receiver I have to lower the bass a ton, and up the treble a ton. It's all crap. But headphones are fine.- sophiesophie

Laptop to Receiver = Terrible Sound. What up?
Help me! Help me! I've connected my laptop to my receiver via the laptop headphone jack, and RCA connectors through the receiver's CD input. I'm playing iTunes, and the sound through the headphone jack of the receiver is perfect, but the speakers connected to my receiver sound horrible! ...- sophiesophie

$100-$200 range?
I should also warn you that head-fi is a really terrible place to seek advice about headphone purchases. Everybody here has their favourite headphones, and they'll all recommend something different to you. I recommended Grado, and now you'll probably get some messages bashing Grados, and...- sophiesophie

$100-$200 range?
I would suggest saving a bit of money and buying the Grado/Allesandro MS1i headphones. I own them, and I LOVE them. Exceptional sound quality, great out of a portable iPod or what-have-you. I've been looking all around the internet, and I honestly can't find one single person who has...- sophiesophie

Grado soundstage
Here is my wonderful opinion of "soundstage" of Grado headphones. I've owned the SR80i and the Grado/Alessandro MS1i, and I always wonder why people say they don't have a large soundstage. I'm a big classical music fan, and most of my recordings sound remarkably wide and full with either...- sophiesophie

Grado SR80i vs Alessandro MS1i - A Review
I can't stand the yellow pads. I'm going to go for the Grado L-Cush. Maybe, just maybe, one day I'll go for a padded leather headband. Not that they need them. Australia is a funny place. So is the US. I just don't get the Canadian pricing. All headphones are more expensive here. I...- sophiesophie

Grado SR80i vs Alessandro MS1i - A Review
To clarify, the MS1i's sound better (to me) and are $100 cheaper. No brainer for Canadians looking for lower-end Grados. But I think they're about the same price in the US.- sophiesophie

Grado SR80i vs Alessandro MS1i - A Review
I have owned both now. Time to compare. They are essentially the same headphone, with a couple of minor differences. First off, they look identical except the MS1i's have different lettering on the earpieces, and they don't have the little button on the middle of the grill. Everything...- sophiesophie

New Headphones by Beats by Dr Dre
Beats by Dr Dre. Amazing company. They have about 800 bazillion different models on the market. Seems like every big box store carries all 800 bazillion versions. So all the consumers have lots and lots of headphones to choose from. So long as they're Beats by Dr Dre. Oh, and a couple of...- sophiesophie

Desperate. Need help. This is no joke!
First off, I love you, FasterX. A Whaler's fan! Secondly, thank you everyone for your help. The time did actually pass, and I am now in possesion of my new Alessandro MS1i's. And now, my impressions, and a mini-review. They came in a Grado box. Go figure. I love...- sophiesophie

Desperate. Need help. This is no joke!
I read a Robert A. Heinlein story a few years back in which this guy had invented a time machine that would only work going backward. To get into the future he froze himself in suspended animation. I remember that at one point he went back in time, changed something or other, then "couldn't...- sophiesophie

Shocker: the new Bose AE2's are actually good.
Bose owners are what? Social-lepers and deviants? Oh my god! Bose headphones actually produce excellent sound. They're overpriced? Probably. But they're always on sale somewhere. Just not at the Bose stores! Also, a quick note to the Grado haters: Yes, some people find them...- sophiesophie

ATH-M50 hurts my ears. Can anyone offer me some alternatives?
And he's right. Some people find the Grados uncomfortable, but I don't. Most find the M50s very comfortable, but you don't. It's all individual tastes. And yes, the Grados can be heard by anyone within about 6 feet distance.- sophiesophie

ATH-M50 hurts my ears. Can anyone offer me some alternatives?
Here's an example of the problem. My Grado SR80i headphones cost $180 in Canada. In the US the same headphones are $99. The Canadian dollar and the US dollar are on par with each other. We have a Free Trade Agreement between the two countries. Grados are made in the US. Why then am I...- sophiesophie

ATH-M50 hurts my ears. Can anyone offer me some alternatives?
No, I just thought that $160 sounded like a Canadian price. I'm in Canada where we all pay about 30% more for headphones for reasons I cannot explain.- sophiesophie
