Need a new work place listening set up
Pretty soon my work place will no longer allow us to connect our own USB devices to our work computers. That is going to put a kink in my current music listening set up which consists of a library of ALAC files played through iTunes through an Objective 2 DAC + AMP and then into one of my sets...- Clutz

Getting AKG K701s repaired
Hello all, Does anyone have any experience getting AKG K701s repaired? I have an intermittent connection problem on the same side that the wire enters the cans. I've tried to do the repair myself by resoldering both of the connections to the affected driver, but the problem persists. I've...- Clutz

Looking to buy a new pair of IEMs
Hey guys, I lost my Etymotic ER4s a few weeks ago. I kept hoping that they would show up again, but they haven't and I'm pretty sure I left them on the bus. I called lost and found, but no luck so far. Consequently it's time to buy a new pair of IEMs. I'm not against buying another pair...- Clutz

Replacements for Etymotic ER4S
I think I've lost my Etymotic ER4S. I will consider replacing them with another set of Etymotic ER4S, but I thought I'd ask for any recommendations. I like how crisp and precise the ER4S are. I've also previously had the Shure SE535 and I didn't like them as much- they had better base, but...- Clutz

Going to buy a GPS
Hey all, I'm planning on buying a new GPS unit. I had a Garmin 660 a few years ago, but it was stolen out of our car. Ironically, we bought it because we were moving to a new city, and it was stolen from our car after we'd only been in our new location for about a week. The units...- Clutz

Google Maps is weird...
Okay, so I was checking out google maps tonight, trying to figure out an alternate route to bike to and from work. There is a little pedestrian bridge near us, that I could potentially use to cross the I-94 highway instead of a car overpass that's where the pavement is in poor shape, and the...- Clutz

Exciting news!!!
I'm going to be a dad!!! We just found out this weekend. It's still really early, so lots of things can still happen, but I'm really excited. My wife and I agreed not to tell family and friends, but this seems anonymous enough that I think it's okay- plus, I just had to share!- Clutz

DSLR questions
Hi all, My wife and I are contemplating purchasing a DSLR in the distant future. Right now I've got a little Canon P&S (PoS?) that I got as a Christmas gift a few years ago. It's perfectly (in)adequate for taking casual shots. The contrast is lousy- it can't resolve light on light colour...- Clutz

Calling all MD/DOs! Advice sought!
Hey guys, I'm thinking about going to medical school. There have already been some major cut backs to research funding, and in all likelihood that pattern is going to continue for the next several years. Universities are hiring fewer and fewer full time faculty and instead replacing them with...- Clutz

Questions about living in England
Hey all, I may be moving to Oxford, England in 6 to 9 months time, but I'd like to be able to make an informed decision about whether or not we're going to go. My wife and I are both Canadians (she is from Vancouver, BC, my family is in Toronto, ON), but we are currently living in Saint Paul...- Clutz

Damaged Macbook Pro Bezel- seeking input
I've got a 2.5 year old Macbook Pro that I just recently upgraded from 2GB to 4GB of RAM. Recently, my wife and I took a trip to Vancouver, during which time said Macbook Pro fell a short distance and was banged on the display housing. Shortly after this, I opened up the screen and noticed a...- Clutz

IEMs
Hi everyone, I've got an IEM advice question. I currently have Etymotic ER4S earphones and I like them a lot, but I'd like something better. I've tried Shure SE530 and I dislike them. I don't hate them, and I agree that they have more present bass and maybe a fuller midrange, but they sound...- Clutz

Cannot remove filters from ER4S
EDIT: Posted to the wrong forum: Hi, I cannot remove the filters from my Etymotic ER4S. I've done this several times before, but they seem to be stuck inside the earphone. I have the filter removal tool (the new one- I lost the original one)- but it doesn't seem to get a good grip. Suggestions?- Clutz

Oxford, England
Hey, Anyone live near the University of Oxford? How good is the public transit to and from the University? I've heard that housing is quite expensive in the town of Oxford- but I was wondering how it would be if you were say a 30-50 minute public transit commute away from the U? Brad- Clutz

Barbeque decisions
Hi all, I am going to be buying a new barbeque- and we've narrowed the decision down to two different options- either the Weber Q-220, or the Weber Performer. The Weber Q-220 is their mid sized portable grill, which will suit us well. We know we'll be moving in about two years, so it won't be...- Clutz

My hearing
I've had problems with my hearing since I was pretty litle. I had over a half dozen surgeries on my ears inserting tubes, and in one case, repairing a ruptured ear drum (ouch!), so my hearing was never amazing. As long as I could remember, I had a hard time hearing out of my left ear. For...- Clutz
