As of 5AM pacific these are available in the US NOW if you order for pick up in store today or 2 hour courier delivery ($5). With the extended holiday return policy, I decided to give em a try.

I will be returning the 1000x after I return from this trip. The white noise from the ANC is too much. It's still audible even when there's music playing and seems to degrade the quality of the audio when it's on. 

  Props to AKG. They just agreed to replace it:   "Hello Daniel,   If your unit is under warranty please provide me with the purchase receipt so that I can place a no-charge order for and once the ear pads are in stock it will get shipped out to you automatically." 

Update:   What a joke. I could make a baby and have it delivered before these ear pads.  I'm trying to see if they will cover it under warranty.

I need some suggestions for battery powered speakers that can accept a bluetooth or airplay stream. I've seen some smaller docks with bluetooth streaming but the sound wasn't great. Anyone with a great recommendation?

Just a quick note as I've just started listening through it. Through sensitive IEMs it has a much much lower idle noise level in comparison to my 1g iPod nano, Macbook Air, and Thinkpad T61P. I had a 3GS last month but I don't remember what the idle noise level was like in comparison. 

If you look at the pictures though the UM remolds come out cosmetically better. There's a certain amount of transparency and shine to the UM remolds vs a hazed cloudy look on the Fisher ones although I'm not sure it's worth a two month wait. If I had to do it all over again I probably...

Same thing happened to me a couple days ago except my headphones are much older. They're barely out of warranty and Shure wants somewhere around $180 to fix them.

Another vote for the Beyers. DT770s and 880s feel relatively similar. I went on the pursuit for a set of comfortable headphones after loving the Grado sound and hating the way they feel. AT900s were comfortable but they gave me headaches, while the Beyers are just right.

Laptop plugged into a Kill-A-Watt power usage monitor attached to a power strip. It's fun seeing how many watts the system uses while charging, idle, under load, different power usage profiles, etc.
